Chadwick Leads Titans At NCAA Championship

UW-Oshkosh's Cody Chadwick placed 67th and Lucas Weber 143rd at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championship held Saturday (Nov. 17) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

The national meet was hosted by UW-Oshkosh, and Chadwick and Weber completed their home 8,000-meter course in times of 25:22.1 and 25:50.3, respectively. Both Titans were participating in the 280-runner race for the first time.

Chadwick and Weber received two of 56 at-large berths into the Division III Championship with their finishes at the Midwest Regional held Nov. 10 in Colfax. Weber placed 21st among the Midwest Regional's 253 runners and Chadwick 26th.

Chadwick earlier this season placed fourth at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Fall Classic held Sept. 21, sixth at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational held Sept. 29 and 12th at the WIAC Championship held Oct. 27.

Weber was UW-Oshkosh's top runner in six meets this season. His top finishes included a second place at both the UW-Oshkosh Titan Fall Classic and the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational and an eighth place at the WIAC Championship.

Dhruvil Patel helped his North Central College (Ill.) squad capture Saturday's team title by winning the individual crown with a first-place time of 24:24.5. Patel was a third-place finisher at last year's national meet.

Following Patel on Saturday was second-place and North Central College teammate Al Baldonado. Baldonado recorded a time of 24:29.7 while Andy Reischling of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Calif.) finished third in 24:32.29, Josh Schraeder of UW-La Crosse fourth in 24:34.2 and Ian McVey of Ohio Northern University fifth in 24:37.1.

North Central College claimed its third straight and division-record 19th overall NCAA Division III title with 43 points. The Cardinals tallied the championship's lowest winning score since Calvin College (Mich.) tabulated 37 in 2006.

Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) finished second in the team standings with 110 points while UW-La Crosse placed third with 127 and Haverford College (Pa.) fourth with 213.

The top 40 individual finishers earned All-America accolades.

UW-Oshkosh also hosted the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in 1999, 2011 and 2015.
