Salinas Arroyo Selected As WIAC Cross Country Athlete Of The Week

The WIAC chose UW-Oshkosh's Fabian Salinas Arroyo as its Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for meets held Oct. 1-7.

Salinas Arroyo led UW-Oshkosh by finishing 12th among 113 runners at the Lawrence University Gene Davis Invitational held Oct. 6 in Appleton.

Salinas Arroyo completed the 8,000-meter course with a time of 26:58. He was just eight seconds away from an eighth-place finish.

Lawrence University's Josh Janusiak won the individual title with a time of 25:04. Jorge Villanueva of Lake Forest College (Ill.) finished second with a time of 25:40 and Joe Kortenhof of Lawrence University third in 26:12.

UW-Oshkosh finished third in the team standings with 94 points.

The Wisconsin Track Club edged second-place Carroll University, 69-77, to win the 10-team meet. Following third-place UW-Oshkosh was fourth-place Lake Forest College with 111 points.
