Titans Win Fourth Straight Roy Griak Invitational Title

UW-Oshkosh became a five-time Maroon Division champion of the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational following its fourth straight victory on Saturday (Sept. 29) in Falcon Heights, Minn. 

The Titans, who won last year's meet with 35 points, scored 34 points this year to defeat nine other programs and continue their string of titles. UW-Oshkosh owned three of the meet's top six runners, including Lucas Weber who completed the 8,000-meter race with a second-place time of 25:48.

Bethel University (Minn.) finished second to UW-Oshkosh in the team standings with 45 points while Nebraska Wesleyan University placed third with 60, Baker University (Kan.) fourth with 127 and Macalester College (Minn.) fifth with 132. 

In addition to Weber, who finished second in the race for the second straight year, UW-Oshkosh also received a third-place time of 25:57 from Michael Juarez and a sixth-place effort of 25:57 from Cody Chadwick. Juarez was a fifth-place finisher in last year's race. 

The Titans also had Steven Potter finish 11th with a time of 26:53, Andrew Muskevitsch 12th in 26:53, Andrew George 15th in 27:15, Jacob Rost 22nd in 28:00 and Noah O'Neill 28th in 27:47.

Andy Vazquez of Nebraska Wesleyan University won the race of 121 runners with a time of 25:37. Ezekiel Lelinga of Bethel University finished fourth with a time of 26:23 and Clay Simpson of Nebraska Wesleyan University fifth in 26:25.

UW-Oshkosh competes next Saturday (Oct. 3) at Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational in Appleton.
