Titans Win Third Straight Roy Griak Title

The UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team placed three of its runners among the top seven individual finishes to win the Maroon Division of the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 23) in Falcon Heights, Minn.

It was the third straight Maroon Division victory for UW-Oshkosh and the fourth since winning the category in 2011.

UW-Oshkosh scored 35 points to run away with the victory. The Titans, who battled through temperature in the mid-80s, had their top seven runners finish the 8,000-meter race within 64 seconds of each other and place in the top 13 of the meet's 83 participants.

North Iowa Area Community College finished second to UW-Oshkosh with 80 points while Hawkeye Community College (Iowa) finished third with 83 and Concordia College (Minn.) fourth with 9.

Rounding out the seven-team field were fifth-place Hamline University (Minn.) with 138 points, sixth-place Webster University (Mo.) with 140 and seventh-place UW-River Falls with 154.

Freshman Lucas Weber led UW-Oshkosh with his second-place time of 27:50. The Titans also had Michael Juarez place fifth with a time of 28:14 and Brian McKnight seventh in 28:29, Spencer Muffler 11th in 28:43 and Jacob Rost 12th in 28:45.

Brian Jacques of North Iowa Area Community College won the race with a time of 27:08 while Kyle Mehrhof of Hamline University finished third in 28:03 and Munir Isahak of Concordia College fourth in 28:08.

Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Cody Chadwick placing 10th with a time of 28:40, Noah O'Neill 13th in 28:47, Dan Massey 15th in 28:53, Skyler Yunk 20th in 29:10, Jack Rindahl 32nd in 30:06, and Noah Bruehl 34th in 30:10. 

UW-Oshkosh participates at UW-Eau Claire's Blugold Invitational on Friday (Sept. 29) in Colfax.
