Titans Finish Fourth At Hoffman Invitational

Spencer Muffler finished fifth to lead the UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team to a fourth-place listing at the Tom Hoffman Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 16) in Whitewater.

Host UW-Whitewater won the 13-team meet with 42 points while UW-La Crosse finished right behind the Warhawks with 46. UW-Stevens Point placed third and UW-Oshkosh fourth with 119 points apiece and Wisconsin Lutheran College fifth with 171.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were sixth-place UW-Platteville with 177 points, seventh-place Milwaukee School of Engineering with 188, eighth-place Edgewood College with 254, ninth-place Beloit College with 262 and 10th-place Knox College (Ill.) with 264.

Muffler completed the 8,000-meter course for the Titans in a fifth-place time of 27:59. UW-Whitewater swept the top two individual finishes as Brett Harms placed first and David Fassbender second with times of 27:00 and 27:20, respectively.

Jacob Jodat of Wisconsin Lutheran College placed third among the meet's 157 runners with a time of 27:34 and UW-La Crosse's Brian Hansford fourth in 27:58.

Also contributing to UW-Oshkosh's overall team score were Jacob Rost, Skyler Yunk, Noah Bruehl and Henry Laste. Rost finished 10th with a time of 28:30 while Yunk ranked 31st in 29:21, Bruehl 47th in 29:46 and Laste 48th in 29:48.

Other Titans finishing in the top 100 were 55th-place Jack Rindahl with a time of 30:00, 58th-place Corbin Bevry in 30:03, 66th-place Austin Baker in 30:21, 69th-place Bob Szymanski in 30:23 and 76th-place Aaron Dorsey in 30:29.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 23) in Falcon Heights, Minn.
