Titans Finish Fifth At Warrior Invitational

Led by Kenny Halloran's fourth-place finish, UW-Oshkosh ranked fifth in the team standings at the Warrior Men's Cross Country Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 5) in Milwaukee.

Trinity Christian College (Ill.) won the 25-team event with 60 points, while Lawrence University finished second with 107 and Carthage College and Milwaukee School of Engineering third with 108.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 116 points for its fifth-place finish. The Titans competed without several of their top runners, who rested after participating at the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 4) in Notre Dame, Ind.

Halloran completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:14. Wylie Mangelsdorf of Principia College (Ill.) won the race with a time of 26:08, while Andrew Reidsma of Trinity Christian College finished second in 26:27. Former UW-Oshkosh runner Tyler Morey, competing unattached, placed third in 26:30. A total of 232 runners crossed the finish line.

Also contributing to UW-Oshkosh's team score were Joe Zack, Ryne Scopp, Jacob Clarke and Alex Balister. Zack finished 14th with a time of 27:46, while Scopp placed 18th in 28:08, Clarke 29th in 28:37 and Balister 58th in 29:22.

Other UW-Oshkosh competitors at the meet were Seth Schumacher, Jordan Black, Derrick Rufer, Charlie Scott, Matt Lawrence and Patrick McCorkle.

Schumacher placed 71st with a time of 29:45, while Black finished 75th in 29:54, Rufer 94th in 30:14, Scott 100th in 30:22, Lawrence 106th in 30:36 and McCorkle 198th in 34:52.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts the Brooks Invitational on Oct. 19 at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
