Titans Run To 10th Place At Notre Dame Invitational

Derek Johnsrud and Erik Hofferber both placed in the top-32 as the UW-Oshkosh men's cross country team finished 10th at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday in Notre Dame, Ind.

The meet featured 23 teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as NAIA competitors.

Johnsrud finished 24th and paced the Titans with a time of 26:09, while Hofferber finished 32nd at 26:19.

McKena Ramos was the next UW-Oshkosh finisher, coming in 48th after running a 26:39. Only seven freshman finished ahead of Ramos.

Jordan Carpenter finished 76th with a time of 27:01 and Sean Kutz placed 103rd after clocking a 27:32.

Mitch Pauers finished 126th and Matt Champan 130th for the Titans. Pauers finished in 27:42, while Champan posted a 27:50.

John Crain of North Central (Ill.) crossed the finish line first in 25:15, followed by Alan Peterson of Grand Valley State with his 25:35.

Central Michigan's Ethan Lievense finished third at 25:36 and Josh Moskalewski took fourth for Grand Valley State in 25:38. Rounding out the top five was Joey Zielinski of IUPUI, who clocked in at 25:40.

Grand Valley State claimed the team title, paced by Peterson and Moskalewski. The Lakers had two other top-10 finishers and finished with a score of 40.

Taking second place was North Central with 78 points, followed by Windsor ON with 108, Central Michigan with 126 and IUPUI at 150.

The Titans will compete again Saturday at the Warrior Invitational in Milwaukee.
