Titans Win Five Events At Karl Schlender Invitational
WHITEWATER, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team collected 18 top-three finishes, including five first place spots at the UW-Whitewater Karl Schlender Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 20).
Overall, the Titans won five events, took second in seven and grabbed six third-place finishes for a second place finish with 216 points. UW-Whitewater won the meet with 238 points.
Dylan Gramley (So. • Plainfield, Ill.) ran a personal record 6.92 in the 60-meter dash finals to grab a second-place finish. Ray Talbert (Jr. • Waterloo, Iowa) took third in 6.93 seconds.
Rashaad Henderson (Sr. • Racine) missed out on the top spot by just eight tenths of a second, running a personal and team season-best 49.67 second 400-meter dash. He was joined in order by Londyn Little (Jr. • Columbia, Ill.) with a 50.55 second time, Lucas Koerselman (Fr. • West Des Moines, Ill.) with a season-best 50.77, Matthew Eiden (Fr. • Stevens Point) in a season-best 50.92 seconds and Weston Lerdal (Jr. • Neenah) with a 51.41 second time.
Jett Breed (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.) grabbed a third-place finish of 1:25.54 in the 600-meter run.
Alex Peterson (Fr. • Gillett) won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.51.
In the 3,000-meter run, Brady Lewis (Fr. • Cedarburg) ran a 9:22.66 for first place.
Breed, Zach Nelson (Jr. • Mount Horeb), Alex Peterson and Evan Peterson (Fr. • Gillett) raced in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing second with a 3:41.07.
Joshua Rivers (Sr. • Chicago, Ill.) was the first of five Titans to place in the long jump with a distance of 7.21 meters. Caleb Wright (So. • Oswego, Ill.) took second with 6.90 meters, Diego Villalobos (Sr. • Glen Ellyn, Ill.) finished third with a 6.76-meter jump, Jacob Abel (Fr. • Waupun) jumped 6.67 meters for fourth and Elijah McCauley (So. • Belleville, Ill.) grabbed fifth with a 6.66-meter mark.
In the triple jump, JV Myles (Fr. • Germantown) was UW-Oshkosh's sole top-three finisher with a team season-best 14.35-meter jump that was good for second place at the meet and seventh in program history.
Zach Zirgibel (Jr. • Merton) and Ethan Stukenberg (Fr. • Edwardsville, Ill.) finished first and second in the pole vault with Zirgibel vaulting a personal and team season-best 4.57 meters and Stukenberg finishing with a best mark of 4.27 meters.
Jake Buss (Fr. • Poynette) placed third in the 35-lb. weight throw with a toss of 15.63 meters for a personal and team season-best.
Four Titans filled the top-four spots in the shot put with personal season-bests, led by Isaiah Isom (So. • Lansing, Ill.) with a 16.73-meter mark, beating his previous team season-best by for than a meter. Buss followed in second with a 14.42-meter cast, Kieran Maude (So. • Palatine, Ill.) finished in third with a best throw of 14.39 meters and Gavin Fritsch (So. • Little Chute) threw 14.16 meters for fourth.
The Titans return to action at home next Saturday (Jan. 27) for the David Weidemann Alumni & Friends Invitational.
