Titans Win Four St. Norbert College Twilight Invitational Events

The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team had four event winners at the St. Norbert College Twilight Invitational held Thursday (April 18) in De Pere.

First-place listings went to Titans Jack Flynn in the discus, Benjamin Jung in the long jump, Bailey Quinn in the hammer throw and Jackson Sheckler in the shot put.

Flynn defeated 28 other challengers in the discus with his winning measurement of 156-0. The Titans owned six of the event's eight place winners as Nick Tegtmeier finished second with a distance of 147-10, Quinn fourth at 138-9, Sheckler fifth at 138-3, Jason Myrick sixth at 133-7 and Seth Schilling eighth at 127-3.

Jung was the best among 10 contestants in the long jump. He won the event with a leap of 22-3 while St. Norbert College's Samuel Fletcher finished second at 21-6 1/4.

Quinn ousted 22 other participants in the hammer throw with his first-place cast of 183-5. Milwaukee School of Engineering's Hayden Heun finished second in the event with a distance of 140-8 and UW-Oshkosh's Jacob Dennison third at 136-6.

Sheckler won the shot put with a winning performance of 51-5 3/4. He defeated 26 other throwers, including Tegtmeier who finished second with a mark of 48-0. UW-Oshkosh's Jack Malloy placed third in the event with a measurement of 42-0 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh, which had the most of its entries for the meet in the throwing events, finished fifth in the team standings with 80 points. St. Norbert College won the 11-team meet with 147.5 points while Wisconsin Lutheran College placed second with 104, Milwaukee School of Engineering third with 100.5 and Ripon College fourth with 82.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge on Friday (April 19) in La Crosse.
