Titans Win Three Events At UW-Platteville Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team received wins from Robert Ogbuli in the 100-meter dash, Ryan Powers in the 200-meter dash and Jonathan Wilburn in the triple jump at the UW-Platteville Invitational held Saturday (April 13) in Platteville.

The non-scoring meet featured competitors from nearly 15 collegiate programs.

Ogbuli defeated 59 other sprinters in the 100-meter dash with his time of 10.62 seconds, including Seth Holden of UW-La Crosse who finished second in 10.72 seconds and UW-Oshkosh's Powers who placed fourth in 10.87.

Powers later won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.45 seconds. His performance, the fifth fastest in the NCAA Division III this season, beat 57 other runners, including UW-La Crosse's Holden who finished second with a time of 21.90 seconds.

Wilburn recorded this season's third-best Division III measurement in the triple jump with his winning distance of 48-7. His mark defeated 16 other participants, including UW-La Crosse's Jacob Teunas who finished second and UW-Oshkosh's Jared Benson who placed fourth with skips of 47-10 and 44-9 1/2, respectively.

Jack Flynn earned UW-Oshkosh's lone second-place finish with his throw of 159-0 in the discus. His measurement for the event ranks 16th in the Division III this season. UW-La Crosse's David Kornack won the event of 57 participants with a distance of 159-11.

Finishing third for the Titans were Bailey Quinn in the hammer throw and Joe Vils in the pole vault. Quinn recorded a measurement of 179-2 while Vils marked a height of 14-11.

UW-Oshkosh had three place winners in the long jump as Roman Hill finished fifth with a leap of 22-8, Bryce Mancheski sixth at 22-6 1/4 and Jamyle Brantley seventh at 22-5 3/4.

The 3,000-meter steeplechase and shot put events also featured multiple place winners for the Titans. Michael Juarez finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:01.92 while Andrew Strasser placed eighth in 10:22.11. The shot put had Nick Tegtmeier finish fourth and Jackson Sheckler fifth with tosses of 51-6 1/2 and 49-7 3/4, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh also had Justin Rivers finish fourth in the high jump with a leap of 6-4 3/4 and Steven Potter sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.28.

UW-Oshkosh will compete this Thursday (April 18) and Friday (April 19) at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge.
