Titans Place Fourth At Midwest ELITE Invitational

The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team scored 88.5 points to finish fourth at the UW-Whitewater Midwest ELITE Invitational held Saturday (Feb. 9) in Whitewater.

UW-La Crosse won the 10-team meet with 151 points while UW-Whitewater finished second with 99.5 and Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) third with 89.

Finishing behind fourth-place UW-Oshkosh in the team standings were fifth-place UW-Stevens Point with 68 points, sixth-place Benedictine University (Ill.) with 41 and seventh-place Adrian College (Mich.) with 35.

UW-Oshkosh entered the meet ranked second in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NCAA Division III Rating Index while UW-La Crosse was fourth, UW-Whitewater fifth, UW-Stevens Point ninth and Washington University in St. Louis 24th.

UW-Oshkosh had only one event winner – Jonathan Wilburn who defeated 20 other contestants in the triple jump with his measurement of 47-2 1/2. Wilburn has surpassed 47 feet in a meet four times this season, including a mark of 47-7 3/4 that ranks third on the 2019 NCAA Division III performance list.

UW-Oshkosh's second-place results featured Joe Vils' height of 15-10 in the pole vault, Robert Ogbuli's time of 6.96 seconds in the 60-meter dash and Justin Skinkis' time of 1:55.92 on the 800-meter run. Ogbuli additionally contributed a fifth-place time of 22.55 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

The Titans also had their 1,600-meter relay unit of Todd Beadle, Nick Freitag, Ryan Powers and Amitai Wheat finish second with a time of 3:20.40. The group's converted time of 3:17.26 ranks fifth in the country this indoor season.

UW-Oshkosh had a pair of third-place finishers as Roman Hill leaped to a distance of 22-7 3/4 and Bailey Quinn hurled the 35-pount weight throw to a measurement of 56-5 1/4.

Finishing fourth for the Titans were Benjamin Jung in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01 seconds, Steven Potter in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.30 and Nick Tegtmeier in the shot put with a throw of 47-7.

Justin Rivers recorded UW-Oshkosh's other fifth-place finish with his height of 6-4 3/4 in the high jump.

Taking sixth place for UW-Oshkosh were Abel Christiansen in the 60-meter with a time of 8.58 seconds, Noah O'Neill in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:52.46 and Jackson Sheckler in the shot put with a distance of 47-6 1/4.

UW-Oshkosh also received eighth-place performances of 21-6 3/4 in the long jump from Jamyle Brantley, 4:26.82 in the mile run from Michael Juarez and 43-3 3/4 in the triple jump from Adam Tallman.

The Titans will be represented in two meets next weekend – the University of Michigan's Silverston Invitational on Friday (Feb. 15) in Ann Arbor and the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge on Saturday (Feb. 16) in Kolf Sports Center.
