Titans' Auer, Powers Sweep WIAC Track & Field Weekly Awards

The selections of John Auer and Ryan Powers gave UW-Oshkosh a sweep of the first WIAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for the 2018-19 season.

Auer was named the league's Field Athlete of the Week while Powers was chosen as the conference's Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Nov. 26 – Dec. 3.

Auer won the long jump at both the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invitational held Dec. 1 and the Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Holiday Invitational held Dec. 7 with leaps of 23-7 1/4 and 22-11 1/4, respectively.

Powers won the 200-meter dash with a school-record performance and finished third in the 60-meter dash at the UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invitational. Powers' nation-leading time of 21.83 seconds in the 200-meter dash broke his own UW-Oshkosh record of 22.01 that he established last December. He also placed third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.07 seconds.

Competing at the Olivet Nazarene University Holiday Invitational, Powers ran with Steven Potter, Avery Van Zee and Amitai Wheat to post a winning time of 3:23.14 in the 1,600-meter relay. Powers also finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.11 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh scored 332 points to defeat five other teams at its own Early Bird Invitational, including Carroll University which finished a distant second with 87. Carthage College placed third with 55 points while Concordia University Wisconsin listed fourth with 35.

No team scores were kept at the Olivet Nazarene University Holiday Invitational.
