Titans's Depth Prevails At ONU Holiday Invitational

UW-Oshkosh owned the top-five finishers in both the 3,000-meter run and long jump and the top-four finishers in both the 60-meter dash and mile run to easily dominate the Olivet Nazarene University Men's Track & Field Holiday Invitational held Friday (Dec. 7) in Bourbonnais, Ill.

The non-scoring meet featured participants from Elmhurst College (Ill.), Olivet Nazarene University and UW-Oshkosh.

UW-Oshkosh won eight of the 15 events, including the 3,000-meter run where Lucas Weber finished first with a time of 8:40.52. Titans Kiernan Koepke placed second with a time of 9:04.78 while Cody Chadwick listed third in 9:05.54, Jack Rindahl fourth in 9:11.93 and Andrew Rathkamp fifth in 9:14.57.

Titan John Auer won the long jump with a leap of 22-11 1/4 while UW-Oshkosh teammates Roman Hill finished second at 22-6 1/4, Jamyle Brantley third at 21-10 3/4, Devin Moody fourth at 21-2 and Avery Van Zee fifth at 21-0 1/2.

In the 60-meter dash, UW-Oshkosh's Christian Lopez won the sprint with a time of 7.08 seconds while Titans Denzel Thomas finished second in 7.10, Ryan Powers third in 7.11 and Trevon Petty fourth in 7.12. Lopez also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.72 seconds.

The mile run featured UW-Oshkosh's Justin Skinkis finishing first with a time of 4:21.64, Steven Potter second in 4:23.02, Andrew George third in 4:23.49 and Noah O'Neill fourth in 4:30.40.

Other event winners for UW-Oshkosh were Nick Freitag in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.96, Joe Vils in the pole vault with a height of 15-11 and the 1,600-meter relay team of Potter, Powers, Van Zee and Amitai Wheat that recorded a time of 3:23.14.

Three other Titans finished second in their event as Moody marked a height of 6-3 1/4 in the high jump, Cade Ellenbecker a measurement of 13-7 1/4 in the pole vault and Jonathan Wilburn a distance of 45-3 in the triple jump.

UW-Oshkosh's 1,600-meter relay team of Freitag, Skinkis, Michael Hartman and Justin Johnson also finished second with a time of 3:31.29.

Additional third-place finishes went to five Titans, including Thomas and Van Zee who ran to times of 22.92 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 8.76 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's other third-place results belonged to Bailey Quinn with a distance of 53-8 in the 35-pound weight throw, Jackson Sheckler in the shot put with a mark of 50-10 and Adam Tallman with a skip of 44-1 1/4 in the triple jump.

The Titans 1,600-meter relay of George, O'Neill, Nick Engels and Andrew Strasser contributed a third-place with their time of 3:40.04.

Adding to UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place group were Engels with a time of 2:03.23 in the 800-meter run, Jared Benson with a measurement of 43-8 3/4 in the triple jump and Nick Tegtmeier in the with a toss of 48-6 1/4 in the shot put.

Remaining fifth-place results for UW-Oshkosh went to Hartman in the 400-meter run with a time of 55.40 seconds, Strasser in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.36, Jared Ollhoff in the triple jump with a distance of 41-11 1/2 and Ayokunmi Olatunde in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.17 seconds.

Titans placing sixth were Olatunde in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.58 seconds, Noah Bruehl in the mile run with a time of 4:35.47 and Jack Malloy in the shot put with a throw of 44-8.

UW-Oshkosh's next competition is its annual Alumni Meet on Jan. 12 in Kolf Sports Center.
