Titans Win Dual Meet With Red Hawks

UW-Oshkosh used a sweep of the top three places in six events to defeat Ripon College, 111-20, in a men's track & field meet held Saturday (Jan. 13) in Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans won 12 of the 14 events, including the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter run, mile run, 3,000-meter run and long jump where it captured the top three listings.

UW-Oshkosh's Erik Schwandt won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.95 seconds, fifth-fastest in the NCAA Division III this season, while Christian Lopez finished second in 7.05 and Ryan Powers third in 7.19. Lopez also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.78 seconds. He was followed by Schwandt's second-place time of 23.02 seconds and Bailey Gesteland's third-place mark of 23.29.

The Titans' Todd Beadle captured first place in the 400-meter run with a time of 52.84 seconds while Chris Hess ranked second in 53.34 and Matt Hess third in 56.15. The mile run featured Spencer Muffler finishing first with a time of 4:39.83, Noah Bruehl second in 4:40.96 and Nick Engels third in 4:43.11.

In the 3,000-meter run, UW-Oshkosh's Jacob Rost ran to winning time of 9:10.49 while Bennett Krueger placed second in 9:20.79 and Jack Rindahl third in 9:29.04.

The Titans' Demetri Lomnick won the triple jump with a distance of 37-4 while Jared Benson finished second at 43-6 and Joshua Jones third at 42-2. Lomnick also won the long jump with a measurement of 22-5 3/4.

Other event winners for UW-Oshkosh were Garrison Griest in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.72 seconds, Noah O'Neill in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.96, Devan Gertschen in the pole vault with a height of 15-5 and Bailey Quinn in the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 56-8. Gertschen's height in the pole vault is the sixth-highest in the NCAA Division III this season.

Additional second-place finishers for the Titans were Brandt Beukema in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.77 seconds, Andrew George in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.55, Bryce Mancheski in the long jump with a leap of 21-10 and Quinn in the shot put with a distance of 39-8 3/4.

The Titans' Jason Myrick contributed a third-place measurement of 45-9 in the 35-pound weight throw.

In the relays, UW-Oshkosh swept the top two places at 1,600 meters. Beukema, Engels, Powers and Chris Hess won the race with a time of 3:29.55 while Beadle, Griest, Ben Garski and Matt Hess finished second in 3:35.23.
