Titans have Seven Top-Two Finishes At UW-Platteville Invitational

Danny Trimner won the 400-meter hurdles and ran on UW-Oshkosh's second-place 400-meter relay team at the UW-Platteville Men's Track & Field Invitational held Thursday and Friday (April 13-14).

Trimner defeated 18 other contestants in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 53.34 seconds, which ranks eighth in the NCAA Division III this season. Garrison Griest and Morgan Malm of UW-Oshkosh finished second and third in the event with times of 55.23 and 55.42 seconds, respectively.

In the 400-meter relay, Trimner ran with Christian Lopez, Nolan Peterson and Ryan Powers to register a second-place time of 41.82 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh had three other second-place finishes on the track as Lopez went 10.84 seconds in the 100-meter dash, Powers 48.48 seconds in the 400-meter run and Joe Zack 1:51.94 in the 800-meter run.

The Titans' Devan Gertschen placed second in the pole vault with a height of 15-7 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh had two of the better times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Trevor Damkot finished third with a performance of 9:54.56 and Charlend Howard fourth in 9:54.94.

Also finishing fourth for the Titans were Malm in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.33 seconds, Justin Skinkis in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.61 and Hunter Effa in the long jump with a leap of 22-11.

UW-Oshkosh owned a pair of fifth-place finishes as Mitchell Hasey soared to a height of 15-1 3/4 in the pole vault while Bailey Quinn marked a distance of 172-0 in the hammer throw.

The Titans also had Dakota Griffith finish seventh in the high jump with a leap of 6-4.

No team scores were kept at the meet.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the Phil Esten Challenge next Thursday and Friday (April 20-21) in La Crosse.
