Six Titans Named To National All-Academic Team

Six men from the UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team were honored for their performance in the athletic and academic fields.

Jeremy Brandt, Jordan Carpenter, Jake Dickmann, John McCann, Corey Wilch and Joe Zack were selected for the All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Carpenter holds a 4.0 GPA majoring in economics, while Brandt has compiled a 3.72 mark in special education, McCann 3.62 in environmental studies, Zack 3.59 in business, Dickmann 3.44 in biology and Wilch 3.34 in finance.

Carpenter was one of just four men to compile a perfect GPA. A total of 276 men met the criteria of a 3.30 GPA and competing at a NCAA Championship or finishing the regular season ranked in the national top 35 of an individual event.

Brandt (shot put), Carpenter (steeplechase), McCann (high jump) and Wilch (400-meter hurdles) each scored All-America trophies during 2014. Carpenter received the Elite 89 Award at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship.

National Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards went to North Central's John Crain for indoor track, Connecticut College's Mike LeDuc for outdoor track and Mount Union's Sean Donnelly for both indoor and outdoor field.

UW-La Crosse was named Scholar Team of the Year for the indoor and outdoor seasons. Principia College (Ill.) compiled the nation's top team GPA at 3.63.
