Titans Win Seven Events In Home Venue

UW-Oshkosh swept the top six places in the mile run and captured six other events as it easily won the Titan Men's Track & Field Open held Friday (Feb. 7) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 219 points to defeat the other four teams. Ripon College finished second with 79 points, while the University of St. Francis (Ill.) placed third with 67, Lakeland College fourth with 34 and Simpson College (Iowa) fifth with six.

McKena Ramos ran to victory in the mile with a time of 4:08.44. He was followed by teammates Kenny Halloran at 4:13.04, Brett DeNure at 4:14.52, Jordan Carpenter at 4:18.21, Joe Zack at 4:19.93 and Ryne Scopp at 4:21.13.

Other event winners for UW-Oshkosh included Naji Allan in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.02 seconds, Mike Servais in the 200-meter dash at 22.76 and Ryan Gregory in the 400-meter run at 52.57.

The Titans also had Matt Lawrence win the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.46, Derek Johnsrud the 3,000-meter run with a mark of 8:55.42 and John McCann the high jump with a leap of 6-7.

Other second-place efforts belonged to UW-Oshkosh's Hunter Effa in the long jump with a distance of 21-0 1/2 and Joe Brunner in the weight throw with a measurement of 59-6 1/4.

UW-Oshkosh also received third-place efforts from Cameron Brown in the long jump with a mark of 19-11 1/2, Nick Grosskopf in the weight throw with a toss of 55-2 and Zachary Brown in the shot put with a heave of 56-4.

Rounding out the Titans' fourth-place performances were Brown in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.27, Brian Beaudo in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.97, Matt McMullen in the pole vault with a height of 13-6 1/4 and Jeremy Brandt in the shot put with a distance of 54-6 1/2.

UW-Oshkosh had three remaining fifth-place finishes as Brandt marked an effort of 52-10 3/4 in the weight throw, Grosskopf a toss of 51-0 3/4 in the shot put and Reid Zanoya a time of 23.45 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

The Titans concluded their sixth-place listings with Huebner's time of 23.52 seconds in the 200-meter dash, Scopp's time of 2:00.84 in the 800-meter run and Mike Heinz' distance of 50-4 1/2 in the in the weight throw.

UW-Oshkosh hosts a quadrangular involving three other WIAC teams next Saturday (Feb. 15).
