Titans Unable To Net Cardinals

UW-Oshkosh was limited to just one victory in both singles and doubles play as it dropped a 7-2 men's tennis decision to Saint Mary's University (Minn.) on Sunday (Feb. 7) in Fond du Lac.

Jordan Andersen earned the Titans' lone individual win with his 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Kyle Swanson in the sixth flight.

UW-Oshkosh (0-2) lost a pair of tightly contested singles matches as Logan Zastrow and David Leffler both suffered defeat in three sets. Zastrow was edged 5-7, 6-3, (10-5) by Warren Lawrenz in the fourth flight while Leffler dropped a close 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), (10-7) result to Alex Zuzek in the fifth.

Other individual winners for the Saint Mary's University (4-2) were Collin Kaczorowski in the first flight, Brenden Amiotte in the second and Brett Giesen in the third.

Kaczorowski defeated Vincent Gorski, 6-1, 6-2, while Brenden Amiotte ousted Adam Hawley, 6-1, 6-4. Giesen was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Adam Martin.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition. The lone UW-Oshkosh victory was a 9-7 win by Gorski and Ryan Kuzmanovic over Amiotte and Kaczorowski in the first flight.

Saint Mary's University picked up wins in the doubles portion from Lawrenz and Alex Holm in the second flight and Giesen and Zuzek in the third. Lawrenz and Holm defeated Hawley and Martin, 9-8 (7-0), while Giesen and Zuzek ousted Leffler and William O'Connell, 8-4.

UW-Oshkosh will play matches against Wabash College (Ind.) and Lake Forest College on Saturday (Feb. 13) in Lake Forest, Ill.
