Red Men Register Win Over Titans

UW-Oshkosh had its two-match winning streak end with an 8-1 loss to the Carthage College men's tennis team on Friday (March 13) in Racine.

Mike Gillespie earned UW-Oshkosh's lone team point with his 6-2, 2-6 (10-6) victory over Pawel Jaworski at No. 1 singles.

Carthage College (6-4) took the five remaining individual contests, including Alex Boomgarden's 6-0, 6-0 win over Aidan Sauberlich in the second flight and Jordan Verbauwhede's 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Vincent Gorski in the third.

The Red Men received a pair of 6-2, 6-0 victories from Chris Conley in the fourth flight and Alex Ferruzzi in the sixth. Conley defeated David La Grange while Ferruzzi ousted Logan Zastrow.

Carthage College's Ryan Jump was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Adam Martin in the fifth flight.

In doubles play, the UW-Oshkosh tandem of Gillespie and Sauberlich lost an 8-6 decision to Jaworski and Verbauwhede in the first flight.

Carthage College competed the sweep of the doubles action with wins by Boomgarden and Conley in the second flight and Ferruzzi and Jump in the third. Boomgarden and Conley defeated Gorski and Martin, 8-2, while Ferruzzi and Jump ousted La Grange and Martin, 8-5.

UW-Oshkosh (3-7) takes on Augustana College (Ill.) on Sunday (March 15) in Madison.
