Titans Victorious Over Cardinals

UW-Oshkosh swept the doubles portion of the match and held serve for a 7-2 victory over the Saint Mary's University (Minn.) men's tennis team on Sunday (March 2) in Kohler.

Winning doubles contests for the Titans (6-3) were Bobby Brooks and Kevin Lewis in the first flight, Adam Martin and Aidan Sauberlich in the second and Jason Alexander and Matt Brooks in the third.

Bobby Brooks and Lewis won by an 8-1 score over Collin Kaczorowski and Tim Wolford, while Martin and Sauberlich won by an 8-4 result over Warren Lawrenz and Gavin Smith. Alexander and Matt Brooks tallied an 8-3 victory over Garen Merritt and Blake Olmscheid.

UW-Oshkosh won all four of its singles contests in straight sets, including Martin's 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Merritt in the sixth flight and Lewis' 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kaczorowski in the second.

Other individual winners for the Titans were Alexander and Alex Yang. Alexander posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Olmscheid in the fourth flight, while Yang registered a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Lawrenz in the fifth.

Saint Mary's University (8-2), which had its eight-game non-conference winning streak snapped, received its victories from Wolford at No. 1 singles and Smith at No. 3 singles.

Wolford rallied from a first-set loss to beat Bobby Brooks 3-6, 7-6 (5), (11-9), while Smith outlasted Sauberlich 6-2, 1-6, (10-3).

UW-Oshkosh returns to the YMCA Tennis Center to host Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday (March 7) and Carroll University on Saturday (March 8).
