Titans Slay Green Knights

UW-Oshkosh rebounded from a pair of difficult losses with a 9-0 victory over the St. Norbert College men's tennis team on Tuesday (Feb. 25) in Ashwaubenon.

UW-Oshkosh, which suffered defeats of 9-0 to Wheaton College (Ill.) and 7-2 to UW-Whitewater on Feb. 22, overpowered St. Norbert College (1-7) by scoring 24 of the 38 points in doubles play and winning four of the six singles contests in straight sets.

The Titans won twice by 8-4 results in doubles action as Bobby Brooks and Kevin Lewis defeated Travis Buechel and Tim Hartwick in the first flight while Aidan Sauberlich and Alex Yang ousted Casey Brice and Nate Gosz in the second.

At No. 3 doubles, UW-Oshkosh's Jason Alexander and Matt Brooks posted an 8-6 win over Leon Gilman and Josh Sweere.

UW-Oshkosh (4-2) was perfect in a pair of singles matches as 6-0, 6-0 victories went to Lewis over Buechel in the second flight and Sauberlich over Suess in the third.

Other Titans winning in straight singles sets were Bobby Brooks in the first flight and Adam Martin in the sixth. Brooks marked a 6-2, 6-1 win over Hartwick, while Martin tallied a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Brice.

UW-Oshkosh worked extra to win the remaining singles contests. In the fourth flight, Alexander defeated Gosz by a 6-4, 2-6 (11-9) result. Yang then outlasted Gilman by a 2-6, 6-1 (13-11) decision in the fifth.

UW-Oshkosh faces another busy weekend as it hosts Carthage College and the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday (March 1) at the YMCA Tennis Center before traveling to Kohler to play Saint Mary's University (Minn.) on Sunday (March 2).
