Titans Overwhelm Pioneers

Jarrett Lieder and Jack Miller won two individual events and swam on a winning relay team as UW-Oshkosh defeated Carroll University, 148-32, in a men's swimming & diving meet held Friday (Oct. 25) in Waukesha.

Lieder took first place in the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyles with times of 4:58.16 and 1733.52, respectively, while Miller won the 100-yard butterfly in 54.57 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.18.

Lieder and Miller also swam with Michael Gerondale and Alex Jernberg for a victorious time of 1:33.44 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Gerondale also finished first in the 50- and second in the 100-yard freestyles with times of 23.62 and 52.98 seconds, respectively. Jernberg added a first-place time of 1:08.31 in the 100-yard breaststroke and a second-place performance of 18:35.53 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

UW-Oshkosh had the individual winner in three other events as David Bain recorded a time of 1:00.82 in the 100-yard backstroke, Andrew Park an effort of 52.46 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle and Josiah Vandenberg a mark of 2:12.81 in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Titans also won the 200-yard individual medley as Bain, Park, Vandenberg and Cody Else registered a time of 1:57.92.

Other second-place results for the Titans belonged to Else in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.03, Park in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:19.09, Vandenberg in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.24 and Matt Holst in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:10.91.

UW-Oshkosh had four third-place swims as Bain went 2:24.63 in the 200-yard individual medley, Else 19:39.94 in the 1,650-yard freestyle, Zack Baas 25.18 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and Jarod Falk 2:15.62 in the 200-yard freestyle.

There was no diving competition held at the meet.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it travels to UW-Whitewater for a dual meet on Nov. 9.
