Titans Win Five Events During Loss To Eagles

UW-Oshkosh's Matt Wilke dove to a pair of victories while Alex Jernberg and Jarrett Lieder swam to one win apiece during the Titans' 134-85 men's swimming & diving loss to UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Jan. 19) in La Crosse.

Wilke won the 1-meter category with 342.85 points and the 3-meter section with 289.30 as he swept both diving events in a meet for the sixth time (11 opportunities) this season.

Lieder took first place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:24.35. He also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.94 and assisted Case Geidl, Michael Gerondale and Ian Sewell in recording a winning time of 3:24.86 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Jernberg earned his victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.47. He also joined Geidl, David Bain and Cody Else in posting a fourth-place time of 3:58.08 in the 400-yard medley relay.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining second-place finish belonged to Else in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.50.

The Titans had six third-place efforts, including freestyle times of 22.55 seconds at 50 yards by Geidl, 52.35 seconds at 100 yards by Gerondale and 11:21.38 at 1,000 yards by Sewell.

UW-Oshkosh's other third-place finishes were owned by Bain in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.49, Evan Bredesen in the 3-meter diving with 165.35 points and Matt Holst in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.72.

Concluding the Titans fourth-place listings were Bain in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.76, Else in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:40.01 and Sewell in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.24 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh returns to Albee Hall next Saturday (Jan. 19) to host Iowa Central Community College.
