Titans Suffer Season-Opening Loss To Blugolds

Jarrett Lieder won two events as the UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team suffered a 180.5-57.5 loss during its season opener at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 13).

Lieder took first place in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle events with times of 5:12.49 and 10:47.77, respectively. He also helped the Titans place third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.68.

UW-Oshkosh's Matt Wilke was the runner-up in both diving competitions, compiling 294.65 points off the 1-meter board and 262.40 off the 3-meter plank. Wilke's 1-meter score was enough to qualify him for the NCAA Division III Region 1 Diving Championship that will be held in March.

Evan Bredesen was third in both diving events for the Titans with scores of 195.60 in the 1- and 185.30 in the 3-meter categories. UW-Eau Claire's Dylan Glumac-Berberich won the 1-meter diving with 315.60 points and the 3-meter diving with 302.25.

Joining Lieder on the 200-yard freestyle relay team were Case Geidl, Michael Gerondale and Ian Sewell.

Geidl added a third-place result with a time of 22.90 in the 50-yard freestyle event.

Completing UW-Oshkosh top-four finishes were Alex Jernberg in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:23.05 and the 200-yard medley relay squad of Jernberg, David Bain, Alex Marshall and Dylan Sobolewski with a time of 1:54.78. U
