Wilke Seventh In Both Events At NCAA Diving Regional

UW-Oshkosh freshman Matt Wilke earned a pair of seventh-place finishes during his initial appearance at the NCAA Division III Men's Region 1 Diving Championship held Friday and Saturday (March 2-3) in Chicago, Ill.

Wilke, UW-Oshkosh's lone qualifier for the meet, scored 420.50 points among 27 participants in the 1-meter category and 444.30 points among 24 competitors in the 3-meter section. His scoring values were for 11 dives.

Earlier this season Wilke finished second in the 1- and third in the 3-meter diving at the WIAC Swimming & Diving Championship held Feb. 15-17 in Brown Deer.

Lake Forest College's (Ill.) Heath Ogawa won both diving events at this year's Region I meet by counting 523.90 points off the 1-meter board and 512.50 off the 3-meter plank.

Rounding out the top six finishers in the 1-meter category were second-place Jacob Burris of Albion College (Mich.) with 456.40 points, third-place Dylan Glumac-Berberich of UW-Eau Claire with 445.05, fourth-place Ryan McClelland of John Carroll University (Ohio) with 442.20, fifth-place Collin Grogan of Kalamazoo College (Mich.) with 430.20 and sixth-place Andrew Grabowski of University of St. Thomas (Minn.) with 423.25.

Completing the top six performers in the 3-meter grouping were second-place Burris with 460.25 points, third-place Jacob Maurer of Albion College with 457.00, fourth-place Grabowski with 443.75, fifth-place Michael Moentmann of Calvin College (Mich.) with 441.60 and sixth-place McClelland 440.95.

No team scores were kept at the meet.

Burris, Glumac-Berberich, Grabowski, Grogan, Maurer, McClland, Moentmann and Ogawa, were all selected to represent Region 1 at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championship on March 23-24 in Indianapolis, Ind.

Other NCAA regional diving championships were held Friday and Saturday in San Antonio, Texas; Middlebury, Vt.; and Ithaca, N.Y.
