Titans Victorious Over Buccaneers

UW-Oshkosh won 10 of 13 events, including a pair by both Jarrett Lieder and Matt Wilke, in defeating the Beloit College men's swimming & diving team, 143-64, on Friday (Jan. 19) in Albee Hall.

Lieder captured first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.75 and the 1,650-yard freestyle with a performance of 17:15.73. He also swam with Brandon Davison, Trevor Jacobs and Ian Sewell in a recording a winning time of 3:30.36 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Wilke dove to first-place scores in the 1- and 3-meter diving events.

The Titans' Grady Hilgendorf and Bryan Solomon both won an event and finished second in another.

Hilgendorf took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.69 and second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with an effort of 18:14.44 while Solomon won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.19 and was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle with a performance of 23.74 seconds. Hilgendorf and Solomon also joined David Bain and Josiah Vandenberg in recording a winning time of 3:55.89 in the 200-yard medley relay.

Other event winners for UW-Oshkosh were Sewell in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.62 and Dylan Sobolewski in the 400-yard individual medley with a mark of 5:14.47. Sewell also placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.78 seconds.

Mitchell Bricco earned a pair of second-place finishes for the Titans by posting times of 2:22.45 in the 200-yard backstroke and 2:32.05 in the 200-yard breaststroke. He also finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.97.

Vandenberg contributed two of UW-Oshkosh's remaining four second-place swims by marking times of 2:12.27 in the 200-yard butterfly and 5:16.57 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Other second-place finishes were registered by the Titans' Bain in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:19.54 and Davison in the 200-yard freestyle with a performance of 1:57.96.

UW-Oshkosh's three remaining third-place finishes belonged to Bain in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:27.27, Davison in the 100-yard freestyle at 53.65 seconds and Jacobs in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.34 seconds.

The Titans host their final meet of the season on Saturday (Jan. 20) against UW-La Crosse in Albee Hall.
