Titans Sink Pioneers

Jarrett Lieder won two events and swam on a first-place relay team as the UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team defeated Carroll University, 125-75, on Saturday (Oct. 28) in Waukesha.

Lieder had the winning effort in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.53 and the best performance in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:23.32. He also joined Brandon Davison, Bryan Solomon and Josiah Vandenberg in posting a first-place time of 1:34.25 in the 200-yard freestyle.

Other event winners for the Titans were Davison in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.60, Solomon in the 100-yard butterfly at 57.02 seconds, Vandenberg in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:09.18 and Devin Watson in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:01.24.

Grady Hilgendorf led seven second-place listings for UW-Oshkosh by swimming to times of 5:35.97 in the 500-yard freestyle and 19:20.70 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Also placing second were Solomon in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.18 seconds, Vandenberg in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:11.17, Watson in the 100-yard butterfly at 58.38, Mitchell Bricco in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:02.70 and Trevor Jacobs in the 100-yard freestyle at 54.28 seconds.

Seven different Titans recorded third-place finishes, including Bricco in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.07, Davison in the 100-yard freestyle at 55.27 seconds and Jacobs in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.75 seconds.

Other third-place performances went to David Bain in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.68, Michael Gerondale in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.75 seconds, Ian Sewell in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:03.59 and Dylan Sobolewski in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:21.27.

UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place results belonged to Bain in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:30.18, Sewell in the 100-yard freestyle at 55.38 seconds and Sobolewski in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:11.51.

The Titans also placed second in the 400-yard medley relay as Bain, Bricco, Hilgendorf and Jacobs swam to a time of 4:07.62.

The meet did not include diving.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it competes at UW-Whitewater on Nov. 10.
