Titans Have Eight Top 20 Swims At Wisconsin College Showcase
Josiah Vandenberg swam to a pair of top 19 finishes to lead the UW-Oshkosh men's swimming & diving team at the Wisconsin College Showcase held Saturday (Oct. 21) in Brown Deer.
The non-scoring meet featured swimmers from nine Wisconsin collegiate programs, including NCAA Division I members UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee and UW-Oshkosh's conference (WIAC) rivals UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater.
Vandenberg placed 14th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:46.47 and 19th in the 200-yard butterfly with a performance of 2:20.58.
UW-Oshkosh's Jarrett Lieder finished 15th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.07 while Ross Armitage and Trevor Jacobs placed 16th with times of 5:21.98 in 500-yard freestyle and 5:07.15 in the 400-yard individual medley, respectively.
Mitchell Bricco added a 17th-place time of 5:24.25 in the 500-yard freestyle while Bryan Solomon finished 18th in the 200-yard butterfly with an effort of 2:14.53.
The Titans' David Bain contributed a 19th-place time of 2:25.36 in the 200-yard backstroke.
In the diving, UW-Oshkosh's Matt Wilke finished fifth off the 1-meter board and eighth off the 3-meter plank with scores of 261.95 and 242.75, respectively.
UW-Oshkosh competes against Carroll University next Saturday (Oct. 28) in Waukesha.
