Anderson Wins 100-Yard Butterfly At WIAC Championship

Dalton Anderson won the 100-yard butterfly and took part in three of the four UW-Oshkosh records set at the WIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship held this past weekend (Feb. 20-22) in Brown Deer.

Anderson captured the third WIAC title of his career by swimming to a school-record time of 49.60 in the 100-yard butterfly. He previously won the 100-yard butterfly in 2012 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2011.

Anderson also earned a third-place time of 46.72 in the 100-yard freestyle and a ninth-place effort of 1:56.80 in the 200-yard individual medley.

In the relays, Anderson helped the 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle squads set school records with their fifth-place performances. The 200-yard medley group of Anderson, Andrew Bores, Jacob Casper and Zach Hogan posted a time of 1:38.06, while the 800-yard freestyle contingent of Anderson, Bores, Hogan and Patrick Keleny marked an effort of 7:14.37.

Hogan set another UW-Oshkosh record with his 14th-place time of 2:01.97 in the 200-yard backstroke.

Diver Derrick Ziegler registered a pair of ninth-place finishes for the Titans. He counted 366.90 points at one meter and 356.90 at three.

UW-Oshkosh had a pair of 13th-place mentions as Hogan swam to a time of 55.80 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Zach Seelman counted 260.65 points in the one-meter diving. Seelman also finished 14th in the three-meter diving with 244.25 points.

The Titans had two 15th-place finishers in Elliott Bartheld and Sam Green. Bartheld recorded a time of 1:02.14 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Green marked a value of 18:19.19 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.

Baus and Keleny both finished 16th to complete UW-Oshkosh's top mentions. Baus swam to a time of 1:03.29 in the 100-yard backstroke and Keleny to a performance of 54.81 in the 100-yard butterfly.

UW-Eau Claire's Alex Card was voted the Swimmer of the Meet for the second straight year, while UW-La Crosse's Justin Bublitz received the Diver of the Meet honor. Al Boelk of UW-Stevens Point was named the league's Coach of the Year.

UW-Oshkosh finished fifth in the team standings with 192 points. UW-Stevens Point scored 863 points to win its 15th straight title and 18th overall.

UW-La Crosse placed second in the six-team meet with 765.5 points, UW-Whitewater third with 702.5, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 526 and UW-River Falls sixth with 191.
