Titans Suffer Close Defeat To Vikings
Phil Devine (Jr. • Winnebago, Ill.) earned a victory in
both diving events as the UW-Oshkosh men’s swimming and
diving team fell to Lawrence University by a score of 120-113 at
Albee Hall on Saturday (Dec. 10).
Devine, Mose Coffee (So. • Glendale) and Alex Socha (Jr.
• Pleasant Prairie) swept first, second and third place in
both the one-meter diving with scores of 352, 274 and 203 and the
three-meter challenge with scores of 348, 210 and 197.
Dalton Anderson (So. • Elkhorn) added winning performances in
the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.13 and in the 500-yard
freestyle with a mark of 4:52.15. Brian Markovich (Jr. •
Colgate) also posted a first-place result when he clocked a 1:07.94
in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The 200-yard medley relay group of Anderson, Markovich, Quin Lenz
(Fr. • Oshkosh) and Jon Streich (Jr. • Hubertus) raced to
a second-place showing with its time of 1:48.06. Streich tacked on
a finish of second in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.27) and the
100-yard backstroke (1:04.52). Jeremy Potter (Sr. • McFarland)
continued the Titans’ run by grabbing the second position in
the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:01.43.
Matt Engelhardt (So. • DeForest) challenged his competitors
in the 50-yard freestyle, earning second with a clocking of 23.66.
In the 100-yard freestyle, he also achieved second place with a
time of 51.26. Engelhardt, Potter, Eddie Dominguez (So. •
Greendale) and Tyler Murphy (Fr. • West Chicago, Ill.) battled
in the 200-yard freestyle relay before placing second at 1:37.49.
Markovich marked another runner-up score with his 2:14.03 in the
200-yard individual medley.
Lenz touched the wall second (1:12.39) in the 100-yard
breaststroke and third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:39.56). The
200-yard freestyle relay squad, consisting of Devine, Coffee, Zach
Seelman (Fr. • Sturgeon Bay) and Tim Kuckuk (So. •
Plymouth), captured second with its mark of 1:58.96.
The Titans will host UW-La Crosse in Albee Hall on Jan. 15.
