Raiders Overcome Lack Of Shots To Defeat Titans

The Milwaukee School of Engineering men's soccer team overcame a 19-4 deficit in shots to defeat UW-Oshkosh, 2-0, on Wednesday (Sept. 17) in Milwaukee.

The Raiders were held to just two shots in each half, but scored off a free kick in the first period and a penalty kick in the second to mark their first win over the Titans in seven meetings.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering (5-2) took a 1-0 lead during the game's 26th minute (25:47) of action. Logan Andryk started the scoring play with a long free kick. Jorn Witte tracked down the ball and headed it to Drew Porter who then headed it into the goal.

The Raiders held their one-goal advantage until Logan Andryk scored on a penalty kick in the 61st minute (60:36). The kick was the result a collision inside the box between Milwaukee School of Engineering midfielder Braden Andryk and UW-Oshkosh goalkeeper Nick Barry.

UW-Oshkosh (4-3) attempted 12 shots in the first half and seven in the second. The Titans had five shots on goal, including four that were saved by Milwaukee School of Engineering goalkeeper Garrett Farin in the opening period.

UW-Oshkosh's shot count featured five by Hans Becker and three by Jonathan Stanley. Malcom Jeffris owned two of his team's shots on goal. A total of four players had one shot each for the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Garrett finished the game with five saves, while the only shots faced by Barry were the ones that scored.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its four-game road trip at 10th-ranked Loras College (Iowa) on Sunday (Sept. 21).
