Titans Extend Winning Streak Over Vikings

Karl Bock's first collegiate goal was a match winner as the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team edged Lawrence University, 3-2, on Saturday (Oct. 19) in Appleton.

Bock scored in the game's 75th minute (74:54) off a pass from Nick Woodbury. The goal broke a 2-2 tie and allowed the Titans (11-0-4) to record their 25th straight win over the Vikings (5-8-1).

UW-Oshkosh, which entered the contest ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Tony Starnes. Starnes scored 14 minutes (13:05) into play off a pass from Elias Efthimiou.

The Titans doubled their lead early in the second half on the first collegiate goal by Jacob Hernandez. The unassisted score was during the contest's 51st minute (50:25).

UW-Oshkosh appeared to have the game under control, but Lawrence University' Santiago Alvarez changed that in a three-minute span.

Alvarez sliced the Vikings' deficit to 2-1 when he scored off passes from Sean Salansky and Brendan Flynn in the 61st minute (60:50). Alvarez then struck with an unassisted goal in the 64th minute (63:49) to tie the score.

UW-Oshkosh totaled 18 shots, including four by Hernandez and three from both Kirby Allen and Jan Nachtigall. Lawrence University was held to five shots, three from Erich Lohrmann and two from Alvarez.

Nick Barry guarded the UW-Oshkosh goal and saved three shots. Joe Krivit denied six shots for Lawrence University.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it travels to UW-Platteville on Oct. 27.
