Allen's Four Goals Lead Titans To Rout Of Muskies

Kirby Allen tied a school record with four goals to help the UW-Oshkosh men's soccer team reel in a 7-1 victory over Lakeland College on Wednesday (Oct. 9) in Sheboygan.

Allen, who tallied his first goal of the season during Saturday's (Oct. 5) win over Finlandia University (Mich.), scored three times in a 10-minute span to give the Titans a 3-0 halftime lead.

Allen entered the contest midway through the opening period and scored goals during the 30th (29:21), 36th (35:29) and 40th (39:20) minute of play. He later scored in the 72nd minute (71:17) to give UW-Oshkosh (9-0-4) a 6-1 advantage.

UW-Oshkosh, which entered the match ranked seventh in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, put the result out of reach on a pair of goals from Elias Efthimiou early in the second half. Efthimiou scored his first goals of the season during the 49th (48:56) and 52nd (51:10) minute of action.

The Titans closed the game's scoring on Jonathan Stanley's goal at the 88:48 mark.

Lakeland College (6-5-1) cut its deficit to 5-1 during the 70th minute (69:31) of play. The Muskies scored when Paul Elzinga converted a penalty kick after Farouk Dadzie was taken down in the box.

A total of seven players assisted the UW-Oshkosh scores. Tony Starnes was credited with two assists, while Stanley, Michael Dugan, Matt Cheaney, Evan Krause, Chris Kurth and Paul Messerly had one each. Both of Starnes' assists came in the second half.

UW-Oshkosh posted advantages of 25-4 in shots and 11-1 in corner kicks. The Titans were led by the seven shots from Efthimiou and the five from Allen. Elzinga and Dadzie both had two shots for Lakeland College.

Sam Gabrilska guarded the UW-Oshkosh goal for all 90 minutes and saved one shot. Austin Ganzke saved five shots and allowed all seven goals while going the distance for the Muskies.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it visits Augustana College (Ill.) on Tuesday (Oct. 15).
