Titans Clip Falcons With Second-Half Goals

Jan Nachtigall scored both UW-Oshkosh goals as the Titans defeated the Concordia University Wisconsin men's soccer team, 2-1, on Thursday (Sept. 19) in Mequon.

Nachtigall helped UW-Oshkosh erase a 1-0 halftime deficit by scoring twice during the first 20 minutes of the second half. He recorded the match-winning goal on a penalty kick in the game's 65th minute (64:18).

Nachtigall tied the score at 1-1 during the 54th minute (53:03) of play. His goal followed a cross from Tony Starnes and a touch pass from Ryan Redmond.

Keegan Van Dusseldorp put Concordia University Wisconsin (2-3-1) ahead 1-0 when he scored off a pass from Jacob Pope in the 39th minute (38:53).

UW-Oshkosh (5-0-3), which entered the match ranked 14th in the NCAA Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, outshot the Falcons, 18-4. The Titans held a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Nachtigall, Starnes and Trent Allison each attempted four shots for UW-Oshkosh. Concordia University Wisconsin was led by the three shots from Van Dusseldorp.

UW-Oshkosh split its goalkeeping duties as Sam Gabrilska played the first half and Nick Barry the second. Gabrilska gave up the Falcons' goal while recording the Titans' lone save.

Eric Vogel guarded the Concordia University Wisconsin goal for the first 86:03 of play. He allowed both UW-Oshkosh goals and saved six shots before being replaced by Alec Brew for the final 3:57 of action. Brew blocked the lone shot he faced.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it hosts UW-Superior on Sept. 28 at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The contest marks the WIAC opener for the Titans.
