Bio

Pat Juckem (yuck-um) is entering his sixth season as head coach of the UW-Oshkosh men’s basketball program.

Juckem owns a 70-65 record and two straight NCAA Division III Championship appearances during his five seasons at UW-Oshkosh. He has also helped four Titan players garner a total of five All-WIAC first team honors.

Last season, Juckem’s Titans produced a 17-11 record, including a runner-up 9-5 mark in WIAC play. UW-Oshkosh, which reached the WIAC tournament final for the third straight season, received an at-large berth to the NCAA postseason, marking the first time since 2002-03 that the program advanced to the national tournament in consecutive seasons. Juckem helped the Titans compile a 6-6 record against nationally ranked opponents, including a pair of wins over ranked conference rivals UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater in addition to a victory at UW-River Falls as UW-Oshkosh won each of its last nine regular season road games. The Titans, who ended the season by allowing a WIAC-leading 65.4 points per game, lost an 87-85 decision at Hope College (Mich.) during the first round of the NCAA tournament.

In the 2015-16 season, Juckem coached the Titans to their sixth NCAA postseason appearance and first during his tenure. UW-Oshkosh compiled an 18-10 record, including a second-place 9-5 mark in WIAC play. The Titans, who ranked 14th in the country by allowing 64 points per game, clinched WIAC's automatic berth into the Division III Championship by winning a pair of home games in the league tournament, including a 66-63 decision over UW-River Falls in the final. UW-Oshkosh, making its first NCAA postseason appearance since 2003, suffered a 73-63 setback to Elmhurst College (Ill.) during the opening round of the Division III Championship. The Titans finished the season with a WIAC-best 219 3-pointers.

In 2014-15, Juckem guided the Titans to a 16-12 overall record and an 8-8 mark in the WIAC for the program's most total and league wins since 2009. UW-Oshkosh, which averaged a WIAC-leading 7.8 steals per game, advanced to the title game of the WIAC Championship after knocking off eventual national champion UW-Stevens Point in the semifinals.

During the 2013-14 season, Juckem led UW-Oshkosh to a 12-14 overall record, a 7-9 mark in the WIAC and a berth in the conference tournament. The Titans tied for fifth in the conference, marking their best showing since 2009.

Juckem’s first campaign with the Titans, in 2012-13, produced a 7-18 record, including a 2-14 mark in the WIAC. UW-Oshkosh concluded the season with a WIAC-high 8.4 steals per game. During the season prior to Juckem's arrival, UW-Oshkosh produced records of 4-21 overall and 0-16 in league play.

From 2006-12, Juckem was the head coach at Coe College (Iowa). He led the Kohawks to an overall record of 105-79. Coe College won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) championship during both the 2006 and 2012 seasons.

Juckem’s 105 coaching victories rank second in the 113-year history of Coe College men’s basketball. During 2012 the Kohawks totaled a 19-8 record and advanced to the championship contest of the IIAC Tournament. Juckem guided Coe College to a 20-7 record in 2006, when the Kohawks captured their first league title in 30 years. He was voted the IIAC Coach of the Year in both 2006 and 2012.

Coe College tallied a pair of second-place conference finishes under Juckem, going 19-8 in 2007 and 16-10 in 2011. Overall, his players combined for 13 all-conference and four all-region selections. Mike Kilburg and David Mataloni received the IIAC Most Valuable Player award in 2006 and 2012, respectively.

From 1999-2005, Juckem was an assistant coach at Lawrence University. His final three years featured a 62-17 record and Midwest Conference championships in both 2004 and 2005. He also recruited the 2006 Lawrence University team that compiled a 25-1 record and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Championship.

Juckem, who also served six seasons as an assistant football coach at Lawrence University, was the head boys basketball coach at Manitowoc Roncalli High School from 1996-99. Juckem led the Jets to a 46-24 record, two state tournament appearances and one conference championship. In 1999, Juckem was named the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Coach of the Year.

Juckem earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lawrence University in 1995. He and his wife, Elissa, are the parents of Emmett and Gavin.
