Borchert Named To National Basketball Team Of The Week

Sophomore forward Levi Borchert averaged a double-double in a pair of UW-Oshkosh victories over UW-Stevens Point to earn a selection to the five-member D3hoops.com Men's Basketball Team of the Week for games played Feb. 15-21.

Borchert averaged 18 points and 13 rebounds as the nationally ranked Titans defeated the Pointers by scores of 76-62 on Feb. 17 in Stevens Point and 86-66 on Feb. 19 in Oshkosh. UW-Oshkosh, which swept the regular season series with the Pointer for the third straight season, entered last week's games ranked 13th in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com.

Borchert produced 36 points against UW-Stevens Point by shooting 72.7 percent (16-22) from the field and 30 percent (3-10) from the free throw line. He also made 1 of 2 (50 percent) 3-point shots while compiling 26 rebounds (19 defensive), five assists and three steals.

In UW-Oshkosh's 76-62 road win, Borchert scored 16 points with a career-best 18 rebounds (13 defensive), three assists and one steal. He shot 7 of 10 from the field and 2 of 7 from the free throw line during 36 minutes of playing time.

In the Titans' 86-66 home victory, Borchert tallied 20 points, eight rebounds (six defensive), two assists and two steals during 34 minutes of activity. He shot 9 of 12 from the field while making 1 of 3 free throws.

Borchert leads the WIAC this season with a .634 field goal percentage (26-41) while ranking second in the league in rebounding (10.8 per game), 10th in assists (2.4) and 13th in scoring (12.8).

Prior to his third straight double-double on Feb. 17 against UW-Stevens Point, Borchert tallied 11 points and 14 rebounds during UW-Oshkosh's 77-68 victory over defending WIAC champion UW-Platteville on Feb. 5 and 17 points and 12 rebounds during the Titans' 78-59 win over UW-Whitewater.

Last season Borchert was named the WIAC's Newcomer of the Year and D3hoops.com's Central Region Rookie of the Year after averaging 9.0 points and 6.1 rebounds while playing in all 29 games, including 12 as a starter. He led the WIAC with a .651 field goal percentage (110-169) and ranked second in the league with 74 offensive rebounds and seventh in rebounds per game. The Titans registered a 20-9 record and advanced to the second round of the Division III Championship.

Joining Borchert on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week were forward Jeff Hunter from Keene State College (N.H.) and guards Noah Alm from University of Northwestern (Minn.), Seth Hall from Pacific Lutheran University (Wash.) and Mason Lydic from Marietta College (Ohio).

Borchert is the fourth UW-Oshkosh men's basketball player to receive National Team of the Week honors from D3hoops.com. Previous Titans recognized during the 24-year history of the weekly award were Aric Vaubel (Nov. 19-27, 1999), D.J. Marsh (Nov. 23-29, 2009) and Adam Fravert (Jan. 13-19, 2020).

UW-Oshkosh (4-1) is off until it hosts UW-Stout (1-5) in the quarterfinal round of the WIAC Championship on Monday (March 1) in Kolf Sports Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
