Fravert Scores 1,000 Career Point During Titans' Rout Over Vikings

Connor Duax had a team-high 17 points and Adam Fravert surpassed a career scoring milestone as the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team scored the first 16 points of the game and coasted to a 92-66 win over Lawrence University on Sunday (Dec. 1) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh (4-2), ranked 13th in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com, led by double digits for all but four minutes of the game. The Titans later scored 14 unanswered points for a 47-19 advantage late in the first half en route to owning a lead of at least 21 points for the final 23:43 of the contest.

Duax accounted for 10 of the Titans' 16 points during the game-opening run before finishing with his season-best scoring performance to go along with a team-leading eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals in 22 minutes played.

Fravert had nine points, five rebounds and three assists on the way to becoming UW-Oshkosh's 36th 1,000-point scorer. Fravert reached 1,000 career points on a free throw with 3:15 remaining in the first half and concluded the contest with 1,004.

UW-Oshkosh (4-2) shot at least 50 percent from the floor in both halves and concluded the contest with a season-high .532 (33-62) field goal percentage. The Titans also went 13 of 32 (40.6 percent) from 3-point range and a season-best 13 of 16 (81.3 percent) at the free throw line.

The Titans earned their fifth straight win over Lawrence University after ending the game with advantages of 42-26 in rebounds and 22-12 in assists. UW-Oshkosh's 22 assists and 13 3-pointers were season highs for a program that has now hit at least 10 3-pointers 12 times in the past 18 games.

Thirteen Titans scored points, 10 grabbed rebounds and 10 contributed assists as UW-Oshkosh outrebounded its eight consecutive opponent dating back to last season's run to the Division III championship.

David Vlotho matched his season high with 11 points off the Titan bench. Vlotho shot 4-for-4 from the field and 3-for-3 from 3-point range.

Jake Zeitler added nine points in 10 minutes played for the Titans, who also received eight points each from Levi Borchert, Will Mahoney, Brandon Whiteside and Brian Wilman. Whiteside's eight points on 3-for-4 shooting from the field were a career high while Borchert dished out a season-best four assists.

Lawrence University shot 42.6 percent (26-61) from the floor, 40.9 percent (9-22) from beyond the 3-point arc and 55.6 percent (5-9) at the foul line. The Vikings (2-1) suffered their first loss of the year after heading into Sunday leading the country with 24.5 assists per game while ranking fourth nationally in average scoring margin (+27.0), sixth in both scoring (99.5) and rebounds per contest (47.5), and eighth in field goal percentage (.552).

Lawrence University's Bryce Denham paced all players with 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting from the field.

Mason Materna and Sawyer Schlindwein added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Vikings. Lawrence University leading scorer Brad Sendell, who recorded a game-high four steals, was held to nine points on 4 of 13 shooting from the floor, including 0-for-3 from 3-point range. Sendell was the division's fifth highest scorer at 28 points per game while his five made 3-pointers per game ranked second nationally and his .588 3-point percentage listed ninth.

UW-Oshkosh's JT Petrie registered a layup 17 seconds into the game. Duax followed with a 3-pointer and capped the Titans' 16-point surge with another long-range jumper at the 15:48 mark of the first half. Jack Flynn tallied the remaining four points during UW-Oshkosh's 16-0 run.

Lawrence University missed six straight field goal attempts and a pair of free throws until Brandon Danowski drilled a 3-pointer that trimmed the Vikings' deficit to 16-3 with 15:30 left in the first half. Lawrence University later pulled within 20-12 following a Quinn Fisher layup, but Vlotho hit a 3-pointer for a 23-12 Titan lead at the 11:19 mark and UW-Oshkosh led by at least 11 points the rest of the way.

Leading 33-19 late in the opening period, UW-Oshkosh put the game away with 14 straight points during the span of four minutes. A Mahoney 3-pointer sparked the 14-point run that included a dunk from Fravert before ending on Vlotho's third and final 3-pointer of the game for a 47-19 lead with 74 seconds left in the first half.

UW-Oshkosh led by at least 21 points the entire second half. The Titans built their largest lead of 31 points at 70-39 following Zeitler's third 3-pointer of the second half at the 11:50 mark.

The Titans, averaging 94.3 points over their last three games, return to action Friday (Dec. 6) at Alma College (Mich.).
