Titans Cruise To Win Over Eagles

Jack Flynn led six UW-Oshkosh double-digit scorers with 16 points, Levi Borchert recorded his first career double-double and the reigning NCAA Division III champion Titans cruised to a 99-80 men's basketball victory over Edgewood College on Tuesday (Nov. 26) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh (3-2), ranked 13th in the country by D3hoops.com, scored the first seven points of the game before building leads of 15-3 five minutes into the contest, 51-32 at intermission and 93-63 with 7:22 remaining on the way picking up its 10th consecutive win over Edgewood College.

The Titans shot a season-best 51.9 percent (41-79) from the field and owned a commanding 55-26 rebounding advantage. UW-Oshkosh, which knocked down 10 3-pointers, produced its best rebound total since grabbing 61 against The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Dec. 17, 1994. The Titans' 41 made field goals matches the program's most since going 49-for-72 from the floor against Grinnell College (Iowa) on Jan. 4, 2007.

UW-Oshkosh, which snapped a two-game losing streak, has still not suffered a three-game skid since 2014-15 season.

Flynn went 8 of 14 from the field and pulled down nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

All five UW-Oshkosh starters scored at least 12 points as Adam Fravert had 15, Connor Duax and JT Petrie 13 apiece, and Eric Peterson 12. The Titans' starting lineup accounted for 69 points on 29 of 48 (.604) shooting from the field, 29 rebounds, 10 of the team's 18 assists and three of its four blocks.

Fravert collected seven rebounds and led all players with five assists. Petrie went 3-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc en route to eclipsing his previous career high of five points.

Borchert had 12 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the floor and 10 rebounds in 20 minutes off the UW-Oshkosh bench. UW-Oshkosh reserve Will Mahoney chipped in eight points, five rebounds and four assists in 19 minutes while David Vlotho registered seven rebounds and a block.

Edgewood College finished the game shooting 44.3 percent (31-70) from the floor, 31.4 percent (11-35) from 3-point range and 70 percent (7-10) at the free throw line. The Eagles, who had just two offensive rebounds, went into the game ranked 413th among 416 Division III teams with 3.5 made 3-pointers per contest.

The Eagles' Ben Seefeld scored a game-high 26 points on 11 of 16 shooting from the field and added three steals.

Ryan Buss had 14 points for Edgewood College, which also received 11 points from reserve Caleb Holzman and nine from starter Jacob Miller.

UW-Oshkosh's seven-point run to open the game featured layups by Duax and Petrie, and a short jumper from Flynn. After Edgewood College hit a 3-pointer at the 17:20 mark of the first half, the Titans answered with eight straight points on four layups for a 15-3 lead following Borchert's basket in the lane with 14:58 to go in the period.

Fravert drove down the left baseline and soared for a dunk that extended UW-Oshkosh's lead to 21-6. Brian Wilman later spun for a layup that upped the Titans' advantage to 28-17 with 8:44 left in the first half, and UW-Oshkosh led by at least 11 points the rest of the way.

A Flynn dunk gave the Titans a 74-49 advantage before UW-Oshkosh built its largest lead of 30 points at 93-63 following a three-point play by Fravert with 6:26 left.

UW-Oshkosh remains at home to host Lawrence University on Sunday (Dec. 1).
