Boots Named WIAC Basketball Athlete Of The Week

The WIAC chose UW-Oshkosh senior guard Ben Boots as its Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for games held Dec. 31 - Jan. 6.

Boots averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3 rebounds as UW-Oshkosh opened WIAC play with victories of 96-70 over UW-Platteville and 77-75 over UW-Stout.

Boots scored 47 points in the two contests by shooting 57.7 percent (15-26) from the field and 66.7 percent (8-12) from the free throw line. He also made 9 of 18 3-point shots (50 percent) while totaling nine assists, six rebounds and one steal.

During UW-Oshkosh's home win over UW-Platteville on Jan. 2, Boots played 26 minutes and tallied 16 points, six assists and two steals.

In the Titans' come-from-behind road triumph over UW-Stout on Jan. 5, Boots tied his season high with 31 points, including each of the final seven of the game, while counting four rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of action. He made a 3-point shot that gave the Titans a 76-75 lead over the Blue Devils with 30 seconds to play and later split two free throws to create the eventual final score with 17 seconds remaining.

Boots concluded the contest against UW-Stout shooting 10 of 17 from the field, 6-for-12 from 3-point range and 5-for-6 at the free throw line as he moved into ninth place on UW-Oshkosh's all-time scoring list with 1,418 career points.
