Korn Named Interim Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

UW-Oshkosh interim head men's basketball coach Matt Lewis announced Monday (June 11) the hiring of Casey Korn as an interim assistant coach.

Korn becomes the Titans' top assistant coach, filling a position that was created when Lewis replaced Pat Juckem as UW-Oshkosh's head coach May 17. Juckem guided UW-Oshkosh the past six seasons and departed May 1 to become the head men's basketball coach at Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.).

Korn comes to UW-Oshkosh from Rockwood Summit High School in Fenton, Mo., where he served as the head varsity coach in both boys' basketball and boys' golf the past three seasons.

"We are very excited to welcome Casey and his wife, Ashley, to the Titan Family," said Lewis. "In 12 years of knowing Casey, he has continuously impressed me with his tireless work ethic and passion for the game and his student-athletes. He is an outstanding coach, teacher, and mentor and will undoubtedly help us continue to build upon our national success as a program and as a department."

Korn previously was the head varsity coach in both boys' basketball and boys' golf at St. Clair High School in St. Clair, Mo., from 2012-15 and the head varsity boys' basketball coach at Calamus Wheatland High School in Wheatland, Iowa., from 2009-12. In 2010, Korn coached Calamus Wheatland to a 22-6 record and an appearance in the Class 1A state championship game.

Korn and Lewis reunite after a nine-year break from their involvement as members of the Cornell College (Iowa) men's basketball program. Korn played for the Rams during the 2006 and 2007 seasons before serving as a student assistant coach for the school in 2008 and 2009. Lewis played basketball for Cornell College from 2007-10.

Korn also was a four-year member of the Cornell College baseball team. He earned All-Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors twice, including the 2009 season when he collected First Team recognition.

Korn is a 2005 graduate of Northwest High School in Cedar Hill, Mo. He then graduated from Cornell College in 2009 with a double major in Economics/Business and Secondary Education and a minor in American History. Korn is scheduled to complete his master's degree in Athletic Administration from Concordia University Nebraska in July.

UW-Oshkosh returns four starters from last year's team that compiled a 25-8 record and advanced to the championship game of the NCAA Division III postseason tournament.
