Titans Reach Triple-Digit Point Total To Remain Unbeaten

The nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team shot 75 percent from the field during the first half and cruised to a 104-60 victory over Finlandia University (Mich.) on Tuesday (Dec. 5) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh (6-0), ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com, connected on 21 of 28 field goals in the first period on the way to building a 57-29 lead at intermission. The Titans shot 8-for-11 (72.7 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc in the first half.

The Titans went on to produce their best scoring output in the 277 games since defeating Grinnell College (Iowa), 123-105, on Jan. 4, 2007.

UW-Oshkosh finished Tuesday's contest shooting 59.7 (37-62) from the floor, including 47.4 percent (9-19) from 3-point range. Finlandia University was limited to 37.7 percent (20-53) from the field, including 29.2 percent (7-24) during the opening period.

The Titans also held advantages in rebounds (44-20), assists (18-9), turnovers (18-13) and steals (9-8).

UW-Oshkosh's .597 field goal percentage was its highest since a .615 rate against Silver Lake College on Dec. 1, 2009, while the 57-point first half was its best since also tallying 57 during the second period against Silver Lake College on Feb. 19, 2011.

Fifteen Titans recorded points in the win over Finlandia University, including a game-high 18 from Adam Fravert, who shot 7-for-10 from the floor, who added five rebounds and led all players with five assists.

Brett Wittchow recorded 16 points for the Titans, who also received 15 points from Charlie Noone, and 10 points and a game-best 10 rebounds from Connor Duax. Noone connected on the first five of his six 3-point attempts while Duax notched his first career double-double.

UW-Oshkosh scored the first six points of the game and increased its lead to 23-6 on a 3-pointer by David Vlotho with 13:37 remaining in the first half.

A Fravert jumper capped a string of six straight made field goals by the Titans, including two from Duax, that extended their advantage to 43-17 at the 6:26 mark of the opening period. Noone's fifth 3-pointer of the first half gave UW-Oshkosh a 52-22 lead.

Noone accounted for 15 first-half points and Wittchow 12 as 10 Titans scored during the first period.

UW-Oshkosh, which led by double figures for the last 35 minutes of the game, built its largest advantage of 48 points at 102-54 on a layup by Tommy Borta with 90 seconds left.

Austin Carlson, Myles Ellington and Ricky Watson paced Finlandia University (1-4) with 10 points each. Brandon Robinette added eight points and a team-leading seven rebounds for the Lions.

UW-Oshkosh has won all 12 of its meetings with Finlandia University since the series began during the 2000-01 season.

The Titans play Calvin College (Mich.) on Saturday (Dec. 9) in Grand Rapids, Mich.
