Titans Receive NABC Team Of The Week Award

The UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team has been selected as the first NCAA Division III honoree in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) new Team of the Week program. The inaugural award was for games played Nov. 27 through Dec. 3.

UW-Oshkosh (5-0), ranked eighth in the country by D3hoops.com, earned the NABC honor by winning both of its games last week, including a 95-89 double-overtime victory over second-ranked Augustana College (Ill.) (4-1) on Saturday (Dec. 2) in Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans also earned a 71-58 win over North Park University (Ill.) on Nov. 28 in Chicago, Ill.

UW-Oshkosh defeated second-ranked Augustana College for the first time in 11 all-time meetings as all five Titan starters recorded double-figure point totals, including Ben Boots, who tallied seven of his team-leading 23 points during the second overtime.

The Titans also received 19 points from Brett Wittchow, 18 points and a game-high 12 rebounds from Adam Fravert, 17 points from Charlie Noone, and 11 points and 11 rebounds from Jack Flynn.

In the win over North Park University, Wittchow recorded his first double-double with 15 points, a career-high 11 rebounds and five assists.

Fravert added 15 points and eight rebounds against North Park University while Boots had 14 points and seven assists, Noone contributed 12 points, and Flynn chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.

UW-Oshkosh had a combined 86-67 rebounding advantage in its two victories during the week while shooting 45.7 percent (58-127) from the field.

The Titans are off to their best start since winning their first seven games of the 2007-08 season. After its win over Augustana College, which advanced to the national title game last year, UW-Oshkosh moved into the D3hoops.com top 10 for the first time since the 2006-07 campaign. The Titans entered their game with North Park University ranked 18th in the country.

UW-Oshkosh, which appeared in the Division III Championship the past two seasons, is led by sixth-year head coach Pat Juckem.

The NABC's Team of the Week selections also included NCAA Division I Presbyterian College (S.C.), NCAA Division II Western Washington University and the NAIA's Truett McConnell University (Ga.).
