Titans Pull Away For Double-Digit Win

Adam Fravert and Brett Wittchow led four Titan double-digit scorers with 15 points apiece as the nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team pulled away for a 71-58 victory at North Park University on Tuesday (Nov. 28) in Chicago, Ill.

UW-Oshkosh (4-0), ranked 18th in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com, shot 55.2 percent (16-29) from the field during the second half and led for final 26 minutes of the game.

Fravert opened the second period with a dunk as the Titans built a 54-44 lead at the 11:39 mark by connecting on 10 of their first 13 shots from the floor after intermission. UW-Oshkosh led by as many as 15 points on two occasions late in the second half.

North Park University (1-3) cut its deficit to 58-50 with just under seven minutes left, but the Vikings shot 3-for-9 from the field during the remainder of the game.

Fravert made seven of his team-high 13 field goal attempts en route to his third consecutive game with at least 15 points.

Wittchow added a career-high 11 rebounds and five assists for his first career double-double.

UW-Oshkosh's Ben Boots had 14 points and matched his career high with seven assists while Charlie Noone chipped in 12 points and four assists.

Jack Flynn rounded out the Titan starting lineup with nine points and eight rebounds.

UW-Oshkosh concluded the contest with advantages in field goal percentage (.475 to .368), rebounds (38-32), assists (19-12) and turnovers (11-8).

The Titans held an 8-4 advantage before the Vikings scored nine unanswered for a 13-8 advantage. However, a layup by Wittchow provided UW-Oshkosh the lead for good at 18-16 with 6:20 left in the first half.

Noone drilled 3-pointers on consecutive possessions to give the Titans a 28-22 advantage at halftime.

Colin Lake accounted for each of the Vikings' first eight points of the second half as North Park University pulled within 32-30 with 18 minutes to play, but the Titans responded with seven unanswered points for a 39-30 advantage less than two minutes later.

Wittchow and Noone drained 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions to extend the UW-Oshkosh lead to 45-34.

After North Park University cut the Titan advantage to 47-43 with 13:48 to play, UW-Oshkosh scored nine of the next 10 points, including a three-point play from Boots, to claim a 56-44 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

UW-Oshkosh went on to increase its lead to 68-53 on a 3-pointer by Wittchow and matched the largest advantage of the game at 71-56 on a long-range jumper by Fravert with 1:53 left.

North Park University's Lake scored 21 of his game-high 29 points during the second half. He shot 9-for-20 from the floor and 7-for-11 from the free throw line while adding five steals.

Billy Kirby registered 10 points and Aaron Reed had a team-leading six rebounds for the Vikings.

Both teams received just six points apiece from the bench.

The Titans have won four of their five games against North Park University since 1994. The Vikings defeated UW-Oshkosh, 84-59, in the most recent meeting on Dec. 15, 2014.

UW-Oshkosh hosts second-ranked Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday (Dec. 2) in Kolf Sports Center.
