Titans' Tournament Features Three Out-Of-State Guests

The UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team welcomes three out-of-state guests when it hosts the Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel Titan Classic on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 21-22) in Kolf Sports Center.

Action begins with a matchup between Finlandia University (Mich.) and Luther College (Iowa) at 5 p.m. on Friday. That contest is followed by a 7 p.m. game involving UW-Oshkosh and Blackburn College (Ill.).

The winners of Friday's contests meet in the championship game at 5 p.m. on Saturday. A consolation challenge between Friday's losers precedes the championship game at 3 p.m.

UW-Oshkosh (1-1) rode the hot shooting of its reserves in a 74-56 win at Edgewood College on Tuesday (Nov. 18). The Titan bench contributed 37 points, including a career-high 17 by Sean Dwyer, on 16-of-24 shooting. UW-Oshkosh ended the game shooting 53.7 percent from the field, its best performance in 72 contests.

The Titans fell at home, 67-50, to St. Norbert College in their season opener.

Dwyer is averaging a team-best 13.5 points per game on 60 percent (9-15) shooting from the floor, including 8-for-13 on 3-point attempts.

AJ Mueller and Alex Olson are also averaging in double figures with 12 and 10 points per game, respectively. Andre Wallace had eight points and five rebounds in his season debut against Edgewood College. Kyle Bolger has added 6.5 points and a team-leading 5.5 assists per game.

Blackburn College (0-2) is coming off a 136-112 loss to Grinnell College (Iowa) on Nov. 16. The Beavers lost their season opener, 81-64, to Colorado College on Nov. 15.

Chris J. Davis leads Blackburn College with an average of 17 points per game. He is followed by Henry Hicks with 11, Chris A. Davis with 10.5 and Willie Orange with 10. Orange also averages a team-high seven rebounds per contest.

Luther College (1-0), the lone unbeaten team in the tournament, defeated The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.), 70-66, on Nov. 15.

The Norse, who advanced to the championship game of last year's Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, received 19 points and seven rebounds from Jake Martin and 10 points from Cody Kliethermes in their season opener.

Finlandia University (1-2) lost its last game, 77-54, at NCAA Division II opponent Northern Michigan University on Wednesday (Nov. 19). The Lions began the season with a 92-55 loss to Lakeland College before defeating Northland International University, 73-60, on Tuesday.

Jordan LaPlant, who leads the Lions with an average of 14.7 points per game, had 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting against Lakeland College. Eric Lori and Brandon Robinette have added averages of 13 and 11 points per game, respectively.

Clarke University (Iowa) won last year's tournament with a 73-57 win over UW-Oshkosh in the championship game.
