Titans Conclude Season At Home Against Blue Devils

UW-Oshkosh hosts UW-Stout in the final football game of the 2018 season for both teams Saturday (Nov. 10). Kickoff for the 63rd meeting in the series is set for 2 p.m. at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (5-4, 3-3 WIAC) is seeking its ninth consecutive victory over UW-Stout. The Titans have outscored the Blue Devils by a combined 323-95 score during their eight previous matchups, including 31-0 win a year ago in Menomonie.

UW-Stout (5-4, 3-3 WIAC) is vying for its first winning conference record since going 4-3 in 2010. The Blue Devils' last win over the Titans was a 28-14 decision in Menomonie on Nov. 13, 2010. UW-Stout has not won in Oshkosh since a 27-24 victory on Nov. 14, 2009. UW-Oshkosh owns a 38-23-1 record in the series between the teams.

The Titans, who are attempting to secure their eighth straight winning season, are averaging 19.8 points and 292.2 yards per game while allowing 14.1 points and 305.8 yards per contest. The Blue Devils average 24.4 points and 386.7 yards per game while surrendering 27.1 points and 379.2 yards per contest.

UW-Oshkosh, playing just its third home game of the season, opened the year with five consecutive road contests. The Titans claimed wins of 20-9 over Carthage College in the opener on Sept. 1, 17-7 over Lincoln University of Missouri on Sept. 15 and 48-14 over UW-River Falls on Sept. 29. UW-Oshkosh's win against NCAA Division II's Lincoln University of Missouri was the program's first against an upper-division opponent since 2004.

The Titans won both of their previous home games, defeating UW-Platteville by a 31-10 score on Oct. 13 and UW-La Crosse, 24-13, on Oct. 20. UW-Oshkosh also suffered road losses by scores of 7-3 at NCAA Division II member Davenport University (Mich.) on Sept. 8, 20-0 at eighth-ranked UW-Whitewater on Oct. 6, 27-21 at UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 27 and 20-14 at UW-Eau Claire last Saturday (Nov. 3).

UW-Stout won three of its first four games of the year, falling by a 27-0 score at 11th-ranked Saint John's University (Minn.) in the season opener Sept. 1 before winning by results of 24-23 in overtime at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Sept. 8, 49-24 over California Lutheran University during the home opener Sept. 22 and 26-20 at home over UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC opener Sept. 29.

The Blue Devils then lost, 29-23 in overtime, at home to UW-La Crosse on Oct. 6 and 21-19 at UW-River Falls on Oct. 13. The past three weeks UW-Stout has lost, 40-10, to fourth-ranked UW-Whitewater and defeated both UW-Stevens Point, 31-27, on Oct. 20 and UW-Platteville by a 38-33 score last Saturday. The games against UW-Whitewater and UW-Platteville were in Menomonie.

UW-Oshkosh sophomore quarterback Kyle Radavich has completed 128 of 219 passes for 1,465 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. His .584 completion percentage leads the WIAC.

The Titans rushing attack is averaging 125.8 yards per game behind an offensive line comprised of seniors Cody Moon, Tyler Powers, Austin Summers, Alex Wendorf and Jason Wright; and junior Alex Wipperfurth.

Junior Mitch Gerhartz paces UW-Oshkosh with 127 carries for 488 yards and three touchdowns in seven games played. Senior Dom Todarello has added 236 rushing yards and one score on 42 carries while junior JP Peerenboom and sophomore Chris Hess have chipped in 175 and 106 yards, respectively, on the ground.

UW-Oshkosh's Riley Kallas has a team-high 42 catches for 486 yards and four touchdowns. Todarello and Mitchell Gerend have hauled in 30 receptions apiece as Gerend has 359 yards and four touchdowns through the air, and Todarello 405 yards and three scores.

Seniors Derrick Jennings Jr., Cole Yoder and Scott Skornicka spearhead a UW-Oshkosh defense that ranks fifth in the country with 17 interceptions. The Titans have also collected 23 sacks and three fumble recoveries.

Yoder has a team-leading 68 tackles and four interceptions while Jennings Jr. has 58 tackles, including a team-best 13 for loss and four sacks, four interceptions and ranks eighth nationally with three blocked kicks. Skornicka has contributed 51 tackles, including eight for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Freshman Brandon Kolgen has added 8.5 tackles for loss and three sacks for the Titans, who have also received three interceptions from junior Calvin Shilling and a team-high eight pass breakups from senior AJ Plewa.

On special teams, Todarello leads the conference by averaging 26.4 yards per kickoff return and paces the team with a 10.6-yard punt return average. He ranks third in UW-Oshkosh and sixth in WIAC history with 1,812 career kickoff return yards.

UW-Oshkosh junior Peyton Peterson has connected on 6 of 11 field goals, including a long of 39 yards, and each of his 22 extra points. Peterson leads the team with 40 points scored on the year.

Senior Turner Geisthardt has averaged 39.4 yards on his 55 punts, including a long of 59 yards and 17 inside the opponents' 20-yard line. UW-Oshkosh's all-time leader in punting yards, Geisthardt is less than 200 yards shy of moving into fourth place in WIAC history.

UW-Stout's offense is directed by freshman Sean Borgerding, who has completed 127 of 236 passes for 1,871 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has also rushed 58 times for 92 yards and a pair of scores.

The Blue Devil ground game features a pair of 500-yard rushers in senior Keyshawn Carpenter and junior Rayshawn Graham. Carpenter has a team-leading 138 carries for 539 yards and six touchdowns while Graham follows with 104 rushes for 524 yards and five scores.

Freshman Levy Hamer is leading UW-Stout with seven touchdown catches and paces the WIAC with 66 receptions, 935 receiving yards and 155.7 all-purpose yards per game. Hamer also handles the Blue Devil return duties, averaging 18.9 yards per kickoff and 4.3 yards per punt return.

UW-Stout freshman Tyler Seymour, who has 19 catches for 418 yards and four touchdowns, ranks ninth nationally by averaging 22 yards per reception.

UW-Stout's defense has recorded eight interceptions and eight fumble recoveries this season. Opponents are averaging 4.5 yards per carry against the Blue Devils this season while scoring 16 touchdowns on the ground and 15 times through the air.

Four Blue Devils have recorded more than 60 tackles on the year, including senior Levi Wolf with 76 and junior Luke Wilz with 70. Juniors Jed Schlegel and Brandon Vecchio have added 65 and 63 tackles, respectively.

Junior Dylan Peterson has accounted for 5.5 of UW-Stout's 17 sacks this year while Schlegel and sophomore Haydon Miller both have a team-leading two interceptions.

On special teams, UW-Stout senior Shawn Magee is averaging 37.9 yards on 40 punts, including a long of 73 yards and 12 inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Senior Drew Pearson has converted 9 of 17 field goals, including a long of 51 yards, and 21 of 24 extra points.

UW-Oshkosh has won 20 straight regular season home games since suffering a 24-20 loss to NAIA member Marian University (Ind.) on Sept. 13, 2014. The Titans have not lost a regular season home contest to a Division III team since a 17-16 decision against UW-Platteville on Nov. 16, 2013.
