Ripplinger Chosen As WIAC Football Athlete Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh strong safety Taylor Ripplinger received WIAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week recognition for games played Oct. 8-14.

Ripplinger totaled five tackles and returned a recovered fumble 32 yards for a touchdown as 13th-ranked UW-Oshkosh celebrated its home opener with a 31-10 victory over UW-Platteville on Oct. 13.

Ripplinger gave UW-Oshkosh a 24-3 lead when he scooped up a fourth-quarter loose ball following a running play and ran with it to the end zone for his first collegiate score.

Ripplinger's five tackles included three solo as UW-Oshkosh held UW-Platteville to its lowest point total in 34 games.

The WIAC also presented weekly awards to UW-La Crosse quarterback Ben Schramski on offense and UW-Stevens Point wide receiver Christian Almonte on special teams.
