Bio

Chris Roberts enters his third season as an assistant coach with the UW-Oshkosh baseball program. Roberts is the team’s infield instructor and hitting coach.

In 2015, Roberts helped guide UW-Oshkosh to a 26-17 overall record and a 14-10 WIAC mark. The Titans produced their most wins since 2008 and finished fourth in the regular season league standings and third in the WIAC tournament. UW-Oshkosh also led the WIAC with 476 hits and set a program record with 96 stolen bases.

In his debut season of 2014, Roberts helped the Titans to a 17-19 overall record.

Prior to Michigan State, Roberts attended Oshkosh West High School. As a member of the Wildcat baseball team, he was named All-State, All-Conference and All-District during his senior season. Baseball America named Roberts one of the top 140 high school prospects in the country in 2006. After the 2006 WIAA season, Roberts was selected in the 26th round of the MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians. He chose to accept the scholarship to Michigan State instead of pursing a professional career.

Roberts saw action at every infield and both corner outfield positions during his four-year member of the Spartan baseball program from 2007-10. In 2007, Roberts hit .331 overall and .360 in Big Ten play, receiving Freshman All-America status from Ping Baseball.

During both 2008 and 2010, Roberts was named to the All-Big Ten Team. In 2008, Roberts led the Spartans in batting average (.363) and hits (65) and tied for the program record with seven triples. Roberts currently ranks sixth in hits (232), eighth in triples (10) and ninth in RBI (136) in Michigan State history.

Roberts currently resides in Oshkosh.
