Six Titans Collect All-Region Baseball Honors

UW-Oshkosh's Andy Brahier, Taylor Grimm, Alex Koch, Nick McLees, Logan Reckert and Colan Treml were all named to the All-Midwest Region baseball teams by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com.

Brahier, senior first baseman, senior catcher Grimm and junior pitcher Treml were all tabbed to the First Team by D3baseball.com, which also selected Titans junior outfielder Alex Koch, senior pitcher Nick McLees and senior designated hitter Logan Reckert to its Third Team.

The ABCA also selected Grimm and Treml to its First Team while Koch garnered Second Team recognition from the coaches and Brahier was cited on that organization's Third Team.

Treml was selected to the All-Region Second Team last season, while Brahier received Third Team honors in 2015. Grimm, Koch, McLees and Reckert all picked up their first regional awards as 77 Titans have now combined to earn 123 total all-region laurels. Brahier and Treml are among 36 UW-Oshkosh players to receive more than one all-region award.

Brahier ranks ninth in the region with his team-leading .399 batting average. He paced the Titans with a .601 slugging percentage while listing second on the squad with 12 doubles despite missing 10 consecutive games in March due to injury. He committed just one error in 334 total chances for a .997 fielding percentage.

Brahier compiled a 15-game hitting streak this year and produced 21 multiple-hit performances in 34 games played. He went 11-for-16 with three home runs and 10 runs batted in during a four-game series with UW-Stout on April 28-29. Brahier was 4-for-6 with a double, home run and five RBIs in a game against UW-Platteville on April 22.

Brahier closed out his career ranks sixth in program history with 217 hits in 157 games. He became the 11th Titan to reach 200 hits with a single against UW-La Crosse on May 5. Brahier also finished fifth in school history with 618 career at-bats and seventh with 41 doubles. His career totals also included a .351 batting average, 107 runs scored, 12 home runs, 134 runs batted in, a .401 on-base percentage and a .989 fielding percentage.

Grimm is leading the Midwest Region with 56 runs batted in while listing second regionally with 19 doubles and third with seven sacrifice flies. He led the Titans with seven home runs and listed second on the team with 62 hits and a .581 slugging percentage while hitting .346 on the year.

Grimm put together a 14-game hitting streak between March 21 through April 25, going 28-for-61 with 24 runs scored and 26 RBIs during that span. He collected at least two hits on 20 occasions in his 44 games played. Grimm had a pair of four-hit performances this season, including a 4-for-6 effort with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in against UW-Platteville on April 22.

Grimm's three-year UW-Oshkosh career totals include a .289 batting average, 112 hits, 70 runs scored, 35 doubles, 10 home runs and 95 RBIs.

Treml currently leads the Midwest Region with 10 wins and five complete games. He sports a 10-0 record this season with a team-best 2.15 earned run average and 74 strikeouts in 88 innings while holding opponents to a .218 batting average.

Treml, who won the first five of his 12 starts this year, pitched a six-hit shutout with a career-high 12 strikeouts against Illinois Institute of Technology on May 11. Over his final two starts of the year, Treml tossed a pair of complete games while giving up just 15 hits and striking out 16 across 18 innings. Treml's final start of the season was during the second game of the Duluth (Minn.) Regional, where the Titans defeated North Central College (Ill.).

Treml owns a 19-8 record and a 2.85 earned run average through his first three seasons at UW-Oshkosh. He has recorded 177 strikeouts against just 36 walks in 218 innings pitched across 34 appearances, including 29 as a starter.

Koch is second in the Midwest Region with six triples and fourth with 107 total bases. Koch collected 24 extra-base hits, including 11 doubles and a team-best seven home runs, on the way to producing a .569 slugging percentage. He led the Titans with 63 hits and batted .335 while registering a .983 fielding percentage and playing all 44 games this year.

Koch had 21 multiple-hit games this season and drove in runs during 20 contests. He went 4-for-6 with a home run and seven runs batted in during a game against UW-Platteville on April 22. Koch launched a pair of home runs and drove in five runs during a contest against UW-La Crosse on May 5.

For his career Koch is hitting .330 with 103 hits, 66 runs scored, 10 home runs, 56 RBIs and a .535 slugging percentage in 86 games.

McLees sported an 8-2 record with a 2.69 earned run average and 65 strikeouts in 83.2 innings pitched this year. McLees tossed three complete games and issued just 14 walks as he ranks fourth in the Midwest Region in wins and fifth with a 0.93 ratio of hits plus walks, divided by innings pitched.

McLees earned complete-game wins against UW-Whitewater on April 11 and UW-Stevens Point on April 26 and Illinois Institute of Technology on May 11. He struck out a season-high 11 in seven innings against UW-Platteville on April 21.

McLees capped his three-year UW-Oshkosh career with a 10-7 record with 95 strikeouts in 124.2 innings pitched across 26 appearances, including 13 as a starter.

Reckert was second on the team this year with a .393 batting average to go along with 55 hits, a pair of home runs and 29 RBIs. He had a season-best four-hit game against UW-Platteville on April 22 and produced at least one hit in 32 of his 39 games played on the year.

Reckert closed out his four-year UW-Oshkosh career with a .344 batting average with 168 hits, 81 runs scored and 84 RBIs in 135 games.

UW-Oshkosh (34-10) concluded its most successful season in more than a decade by reaching the championship round of the Duluth Regional. The Titans, who received an at-large berth to their first NCAA appearance since 2008, tied the program record with 111 doubles, achieved their most wins since 2007 and suffered their fewest losses since 2004.
