Tomasiewicz Records 100th Coaching Victory

UW-Oshkosh's Kevin Tomasiewicz became the 20th head baseball coach in WIAC history to win 100 games when he guided the nationally ranked Titans to a 9-5 victory over UW-Platteville on Saturday (April 21) in Decatur, Ill. 

The milestone win for Tomasiewicz came in the second game of the Titans' WIAC doubleheader with the Pioneers. UW-Oshkosh, ranked 16th in the NCAA Division III by D3baseball.com, won the opening contest between the teams by a 9-0 score.

Tomasiewicz owns a record of 100-81-1 in five seasons as UW-Oshkosh's head coach. He has led the Titans to a 16-4 record this season, including a 3-2 mark in WIAC play.

Last season, Tomasiewicz and the Titans compiled a 22-20 record. UW-Oshkosh finished second in the WIAC standings with an 11-9 mark for the program's best showing since claiming a share of the 2009 league title.

Tomasiewicz came to UW-Oshkosh from North Park University (Ill.), where he served as associate head coach from 2012-13. Tomasiewicz was also an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State University from 2010-11.

A pitcher at UW-Whitewater from 2002-05, Tomasiewicz is the WIAC's career leader with 35 victories. He received All-America awards in 2003 and 2005 while being named the Most Valuable Player at the 2005 NCAA Division III World Series. Tomasiewicz led the Warhawks to a national title in 2005 and a fourth-place national finish in 2003.

The New York Mets selected Tomasiewicz in the 26th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. He pitched four years in the minor leagues, totaling a 17-8 record, 19 saves and 4.04 ERA.

Tomasiewicz, a native of Sleepy Hollow, Ill., earned his bachelor's degree from UW-Whitewater in 2005 and his master's degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in 2011.
