Titans Extend Winning Streak To Eight Games

Robbie Kleman drove home the winning run with a single in the ninth inning to lift the UW-Oshkosh baseball team to a 6-5 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday (March 31) in Mequon.

Jack Paulson led off the top of the ninth inning by being hit by a pitch. He advanced to scoring position on a balk and went to third base on an errant pickoff attempt before Kleman knocked him home with a single to shallow center over a drawn-in infield.

Kleman ended the game with three hits, two runs, two runs batted in, and two stolen bases as the Titans (8-4) won their eighth consecutive game.

Andy Brahier and John Eagan both added two of the Titans' 11 hits. Eagan also contributed two of UW-Oshkosh's season-high seven steals.

Ryan Chancellor (1-1) earned his first collegiate win by tossing 2.1 innings of perfect relief.

Brahier gave UW-Oshkosh a 1-0 lead with a run-scoring single in the first inning.

The Titans increased their advantage to 5-0 with four runs on five hits in the fourth inning. Paulson and Kleman scored runs with consecutive singles, and Tyler Kozlowski knocked in another with a bunt single. Luke Gajewski squeezed in Kleman with one out to cap the rally.

Concordia University Wisconsin scored two runs on just one hit and chased UW-Oshkosh starting pitcher Troy Mannebach in the third inning. Phil Spock relieved Mannebach and allowed one unearned run on two hits in 3.2 innings pitched.

Both teams were held to one hit from the fourth through sixth innings, but the Falcons erupted for three runs on four hits to tie the score at 5 in the bottom of the seventh. Isaac Tewes brought in two Falcons with a bases-loaded, two-out single, and Noah Greenberg tied the score with a single.

Chancellor entered as UW-Oshkosh's fourth pitcher in the seventh inning and preserved the tie by inducing a ground ball from Falcon pinch hitter Sean Barry with two outs and the bases loaded.

Joel Sharon led the Concordia University Wisconsin (7-10) offense with two hits and two runs. Sharon was the Falcons' starting pitcher, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks in five innings.

Mike Magdiarz (0-1) took the loss by ceding one run on two hits in two innings pitched.

UW-Oshkosh plays its home opener and begins its conference schedule by hosting UW-La Crosse for a doubleheader on Thursday (April 2) at Tiedemann Field.
